Qualifications

• Post-secondary diploma in geomatics, geodesy or surveying OR a university degree in geomatics OR an acceptable combination of education, training and (or) experience approved by the employer.
• Experience in topographic surveys or in geodesy or in mapping involving the use of GPS, Total Station, Level, etc.
• Experience in drafting technical documents and using Microsoft Office Suite software
• Experience in processing field data with specialized software such as LISCAD, AutoCAD, Infinity or equivalent
• Knowledge of the fundamentals and methods used in geomatics (legal surveying, geodesy, mapping) including satellite positioning, reference systems and databases.
• Knowledge of topographic and geodetic surveying using GPS, total station, levels
• Ability to communicate, adapt and solve problems, analyze and synthesize information and provide recommendations
• Ability to plan, execute, and supervise surveying operations while ensuring quality management of deliverables
• Uphold integrity and respect, work effectively with others, show initiative and be action-oriented

Responsibilities

• Carry out work in geomatics and participate in planning, organization and coordination.
• Collect, calculate, analyze, validate, disseminate and archive geomatics data in collaboration with senior technician.
• Help prepare files and documents for survey work as part of field surveys.
• Help choose methods and equipment for geodetic and technical surveys.
• Collect, verify and update data on infrastructure under Coast Guard programs.
• Maintain, adjust, calibrate and manage equipment and instrument inventory.
