Job summary

Qu Data Centres is seeking a senior fullstack developer to own the full stack from PHP 8 to React front ends, plus database work on SQL Server. You will contribute to data architecture and leverage AI and Microsoft ecosystem tools to accelerate delivery.

You will join a small, highly collaborative team in Calgary, working on real problems that matter for in-country infrastructure across data centres, cloud, and managed services.

Qualifications

• Senior fullstack PHP (8.x) development with strong SQL proficiency.
• Strong Microsoft SQL Server: writing and tuning queries, schema design.
• Git, CI/CD, and Linux foundations, and an understanding of Qu's testing practices.
• The AI-assisted way of working described, or the willingness to learn quickly.
• React front end (TypeScript, Tailwind) and Microsoft 365 / Power Platform familiarity.

The role

We Are Growing The Engineering Team Behind Our Core Platform, And We Are Looking For a Strong Senior Fullstack Developer, Comfortable Across The Front End, Back End, And Database Layer, Who Can Also Engage Thoughtfully With Our Broader Data Architecture As It Evolves. Working With Our Technical Lead, You Will

• Build and modernize our applications fullstack in PHP 8, with React front ends, applying solid engineering practice: version control, CI/CD, Linux, and Qu's own testing practices.
• Work confidently on the database side of that fullstack, including writing and tuning efficient SQL Server queries and supporting the reliability, performance, and security of our data.
• Stay involved in and knowledgeable about our data architecture as it evolves, including how our systems share and integrate data, working alongside others rather than owning that architecture alone.
• Use AI as a core part of how you build, or be ready to learn and grow comfortable with that quickly, working within the way we build with AI here (more below).
• Automate and integrate across the Microsoft ecosystem (Microsoft 365, Power Platform, Power Automate).

We build with AI as a core part of how we work, but it amplifies strong engineering, it does not replace it. You are independently excellent: you can design, write, and debug in PHP and SQL on your own, without leaning on a tool. On top of that, you use AI the way we do, deliberately and consistently, to accelerate delivery. You drive it, you verify everything it produces, and code review stays non-negotiable. We work within a company AI use policy and governance framework, and you are comfortable operating inside clear guardrails like these, and can stand up new AI-assisted workflows responsibly within them. If that is already how you build, you will fit in fast.

What You Bring

Must have

• Senior fullstack PHP (8.x) development, with genuine SQL proficiency you own independently of any AI tool.
• Strong Microsoft SQL Server: writing and tuning queries, schema design, and stored procedures.
• Solid engineering foundations: Git, CI/CD, and Linux, and an understanding of Qu's testing practices.
• The AI-assisted way of working described above, or the willingness to learn it and grow comfortable with it quickly: AI for acceleration, not replacement, with the judgment to know where and how to apply it.

Strong assets

• Database administration depth: replication, backup and recovery, performance tuning, high availability, and security.
• Exposure to data architecture concepts: shared data models and integrating data cleanly across multiple systems.
• Cloud and virtualization (VMs, cloud platforms) and infrastructure-aware development.
• React front end (TypeScript, Tailwind).
• Microsoft 365 and Power Platform / Power Automate proficiency.
• Working awareness of AI governance, safety, and current trends.

Nice to have

• ColdFusion / Lucee.
• Data centre domain knowledge: colocation, cloud, networking, and capacity.
