Position overview

As a Senior Fullstack Developer on Stay22's Neuro team, you will design and build robust backend systems that power our AI/ML infrastructure. Neuro's mission is to design, develop, and maintain the Roam engine — our machine-learning redirect system — along with underlying services like ML pipelines, model hosting, and gateways for large language models (LLMs). In this role you will focus on the infrastructure side of AI/ML (model training is handled by our ML engineers), ensuring that data flows smoothly through ML pipelines and that inference services run reliably. You will support Stay22's AI Roam product by building scalable backend APIs and services for real-time inference and analytics. You will also build APIs and tools that enable rapid AI experimentation across the company.

Key responsibilities

• Architect, implement, and maintain end-to-end machine learning pipelines and services—from data preparation and model deployment to real-time inference engines—to support Stay22's AI products.
• Own the backend and API development for the Roam (ML-based redirection) engine, ensuring these services are scalable, performant, and reliable.
• Create and maintain internal client/gateway layers for LLMs, enabling product teams to leverage language models for features like content suggestions or classification.
• Collaborate with the ML engineering team to integrate trained models into production services and with the Data team to optimize data pipelines feeding ML models.
• Coordinate with the Forge/Platform team to implement and maintain cloud infrastructure (GCP), CI/CD pipelines, monitoring/logging, and security best practices for all AI-related systems.
• Build internal developer-facing services and tools to accelerate AI experimentation and adoption, acting as an internal AI/ML platform for other teams.
• Ensure backend systems are well-documented, maintainable, and performant at scale. Identify and address performance bottlenecks, implement caching or optimizations as needed, and uphold high standards for code quality and testing.

Requirements

• English proficiency is required for daily communication with international colleagues and direct reports.
• Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Computer Science or related field, with 8+ years of software development experience focusing on backend systems.
• Strong proficiency in Python and modern backend frameworks (e.g., FastAPI), with a track record of designing and building scalable APIs and microservices. Experience with TypeScript/Node.js is welcome but not required.
• Experience deploying services on cloud platforms (preferably Google Cloud Platform) and using container technologies (Docker, Kubernetes). Familiarity with GCP services like Vertex AI is a plus.
• Proficiency with relational and NoSQL databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MongoDB) and asynchronous task queues (e.g., Celery). Hands-on experience optimizing database schemas and query performance.
• Understanding of machine learning workflows and the challenges of serving ML models (data pipelines, inference latency, etc.). Experience with ML infrastructure (Vertex AI, TensorFlow Serving, or similar) is advantageous.
• Skilled in setting up CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and monitoring/alerting (logs, metrics, tracing) to ensure system reliability and security.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills. Ability to work closely with ML engineers, data engineers, and platform teams to align on interfaces and standards.
• Self-driven problem-solver who can work independently in a hybrid environment.
