The Role

We are seeking aSenior Full Stack & Mobile Engineerto lead the digitization of our business.

This is not a maintenance role. You will be responsible for translating our existing, proven business processes into a cohesive software ecosystem. You will work on-site in Toronto, sitting directly with the operations team to observe workflows, identify inefficiencies, and architect the software that will automate them.

You will have high autonomy in execution but will report technically to theCTO, who will strictly oversee architectural standards, code quality, and security.

Key Responsibilities

• Greenfield Architecture:Design and build the new platform from the ground up, including an internal admin portal, client-facing web interfaces, and a companion mobile application.
• Workflow Automation:Architect a backend that manages complex, multi-stage business logic. You will need to digitize rigid operational procedures into a 'State Machine' driven architecture to ensuring compliance and reliability.
• Backend Development:Build a strictly typed, documented REST API. Our preferred stack isPython (FastAPI), though we are open toPHP (Laravel)for exceptional candidates.
• Mobile & Frontend:Develop a responsive web frontend and a native/cross-platform mobile app (iOS/Android) for field staff and external users.
• Database Design:Design a normalized relational database schema (PostgreSQL or MySQL) capable of maintaining data integrity across complex transaction histories and audit logs.
• DevOps & Infrastructure:Set up automated CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitHub Actions) and manage deployment to a VPS/Cloud environment.

Required Skills & Experience

• Backend Mastery:Deep experience withPython(strongly preferred) orPHP.
• Note: We are explicitly not looking for Node.js/Express solutions for this role.
• Mobile Experience:Proven history of shipping mobile apps (React Native, Flutter, or Native) that consume your own APIs.
• Data Modeling:Strong grasp of relational database design. You must be able to translate real-world business concepts (invoices, contracts, user roles) into efficient schemas.
• Modern Frontend:Proficiency with modern JS frameworks (React, Vue, etc.).
• Testing Culture:A belief that code is not 'done' until it is covered by Unit and E2E tests.

Preferred Qualifications

• Python/FastAPIexpertise is highly desirable.
• Experience with digital document management or workflow automation systems.
• Ability to work independently and communicate technical concepts to the CTO.
