Job summary

Citigroup Inc. is seeking a seasoned Applications Developer within its global technology team in Mississauga.

You will work on OTC derivatives transformations, building robust software solutions and collaborating with product teams and users to drive engineering culture across global teams. You will contribute to feasibility studies, design, development, and deployment of scalable systems, while maintaining strong communication and multitasking across priorities.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of relevant experience.
• Experience in systems analysis and programming of software applications.
• Experience in managing and implementing successful projects.
• Working knowledge of consulting/project management techniques/methods.
• Ability to work under pressure and manage deadlines or unexpected changes in expectations or requirements.
• Hands-on professional software development experience.
• Proficiency in programming in Java and React.
• Design, develop, and deploy scalable, resilient microservices architectures using the Spring Framework and Spring Boot ecosystem, containerization, and distributed systems best practices.
• Experience of following TDD and clean code principles.
• Proficiency with data structures, algorithms and strong knowledge of PL-SQL with Oracle.
• Able to independently work in fast paced and rapidly changing environment.
• Working knowledge in GWT is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Conduct feasibility studies, time and cost estimates, IT planning, risk technology, applications development, model development, and establish and implement new or revised applications systems to meet business needs.
• Monitor and control all phases of development process and analysis, design, construction, testing, and implementation and provide user and operational support.
• Utilize knowledge of applications development to analyze complex problems, evaluate business process and industry standards, and provide judgment.
• Recommend and develop security measures in post-implementation analysis of business usage.
• Consult with users/clients and other technology groups on issues, recommend programming solutions, and install customer exposure systems.
• Ensure procedures are followed and help define operating standards and processes.
• Serve as advisor or coach to new or lower-level analysts.
• Operate with limited supervision and exercise independent judgment.
• Act as SME to senior stakeholders and team members.
• Participate in production support as L3 on rotation.
• Assess risk in business decisions, adhere to policies, escalate and report control issues with transparency.

We are going through a very exciting phase of transformation in OTC derivatives domains in Markets Technology, and you will be required to participate in the whole spectrum of building a software solution, closely working with product teams and users. This role is for someone who enjoys solving engineering challenges, has experience in building robust and high-quality solutions, has excellent communication skills and can manage multiple priorities simultaneously.

Responsibilities

• Conduct tasks related to feasibility studies, time and cost estimates, IT planning, risk technology, applications development, model development, and establish and implement new or revised applications systems and programs to meet specific business needs or user areas
• Monitor and control all phases of development process and analysis, design, construction, testing, and implementation as well as provide user and operational support on applications to business users
• Utilize in-depth specialty knowledge of applications development to analyze complex problems/issues, provide evaluation of business process, system process, and industry standards, and make evaluative judgement
• Recommend and develop security measures in post implementation analysis of business usage to ensure successful system design and functionality
• Consult with users/clients and other technology groups on issues, recommend advanced programming solutions, and install and assist customer exposure systems
• Ensure essential procedures are followed and help define operating standards and processes
• Serve as advisor or coach to new or lower-level analysts
• Has the ability to operate with a limited level of direct supervision.
• Can exercise independence of judgement and autonomy.
• Acts as SME to senior stakeholders and /or other team members.
• Participating in production support as L3 on rotational basis.
• Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency.
