Job summary

Greenhouse is searching for a Senior Full Stack Engineer to join our Employer Experience & Talent Discovery team. You’ll contribute to Talent Matching, Talent Rediscovery, and related employer-facing experiences across the stack, with a focus on OpenSearch or Elasticsearch and practical applications of AI to matching, ranking, and search relevance.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience writing production code.
• Deep experience with OpenSearch or Elasticsearch in production.
• Experience with Ruby, C#, Java, or Python; Ruby on Rails preferred.
• Strong JavaScript or TypeScript fundamentals, including React
• Full-stack experience across backend systems, APIs, data modeling, and modern frontend development.
• Experience building search, ranking, recommendation, or matching systems.
• Practical experience applying AI or ML techniques in production, such as embeddings, semantic search, classification, or ranking
• Experience collaborating with Product and Design in ambiguous, user-facing problem spaces.
• Experience with analytical databases, a plus.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with Product Managers and Designers to define requirements and drive development from conception to launch.
• Build and improve full-stack experiences for Talent Matching, Rediscovery, and related workflows.
• Design and ship search-backed capabilities using OpenSearch or Elasticsearch, including indexing strategies and ranking improvements.
• Develop matching systems that combine keyword, structured, and semantic signals with AI/ML techniques to improve match quality.
• Partner with Applied ML and cross-functional teams to evaluate trade-offs across relevance, latency, reliability, and cost.
• Mentor and guide junior and mid-level engineers, conduct thorough code reviews, and contribute to team practices.
