Job summary

OpenTable, a Booking Holdings company, is seeking an engineer on the Diner Growth – Blog Team in a hybrid Toronto role. You’ll evolve our CMS and web platform across WordPress, PHP, Apache to modern frontend stacks, enhancing performance and authoring experiences for content-rich digital experiences.

You’ll work with design, product, and marketing to ship reusable content and landing-page systems, while exploring CMS migrations and headless options for enterprise-scale needs.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software engineering experience or equivalent.
• Strong full-stack experience building and operating production web platforms.
• Proficiency with frontend technologies such as React, TypeScript, and JavaScript.
• Experience across frontend and backend systems, APIs, and integrations.
• A solid understanding of the web and network stack including DNS, HTTP, caching, CDN, performance and reliability.
• Experience designing reusable components and maintainable systems for content-rich digital experiences.
• Experience with modern CI/CD practices and operating reliable production systems.
• Track record of collaborating with design, product, content, or marketing partners to turn requirements and brand guidelines into scalable solutions.
• Ability to evaluate technical trade-offs, improve existing systems pragmatically, and take ownership from discovery through delivery.
• Proficiency in English and strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Own evolution of our CMS and web platform across the full stack from WordPress, PHP, and Apache to modern frontend technologies.
• Collaborate with design and B2B partners to build reusable, brand-consistent content and landing-page capabilities.
• Evaluate alternative CMS platforms, headless or no-code approaches, and CMS migrations for enterprise-scale needs.

About the job

Our Blog Team owns and evolves the technology that powers OpenTable’s B2B and B2C blogs. We’re a small, distributed team based across Toronto and Lithuania, working across the full web stack to deliver reliable, high-performing experiences for diners, restaurateurs, and the teams that support them.

We’re evolving our platform to help the business launch content and landing pages faster, make useful content for restaurateurs easier to maintain and reuse, and ensure every experience follows our brand guidelines. We partner closely with design, content, marketing, and engineering while creating a stronger foundation for AI-assisted content workflows.

As an engineer on the Diner Growth – Blog Team, you’ll take ownership of evolving our CMS and web platform. You’ll work across the full stack-from our existing WordPress, PHP, and Apache foundation through to modern frontend technologies-to improve performance, reliability, maintainability, and the developer and content-authoring experience.

You’ll work closely with design and B2B partners to build reusable, brand-consistent content and landing-page capabilities that shorten launch cycles. You’ll strengthen the platform foundations—from frontend components and CMS integrations to DNS, caching, and CDN delivery-and help us evaluate where alternative CMS platforms, headless approaches, or no-code solutions could support the business at enterprise scale.

Responsibilities

• Experience with WordPress/CMS is a strong plus, but not required. We’re looking for self-driven engineers who take ownership, are excited about evolving AI systems, and can build scalable, high-impact products.
• You don’t need to know everything from day one. We value curiosity, ownership, and continuous improvement, and provide dedicated time each sprint to experiment, learn, and explore new approaches.

Minimum Qualifications

• 5+ years or software engineering experience, or equivalent relevant experience
• Strong full-stack engineering experience building and operating production web platforms
• Strong experience with modern frontend technologies such as React, TypeScript, and JavaScript
• Experience working across frontend and backend systems, APIs, and integrations
• A solid understanding of the web and network stack, including DNS, HTTP, caching, CDN behavior, performance, and reliability
• Experience designing reusable components and maintainable systems for content-rich digital experiences
• Experience with modern CI/CD practices and operating reliable production systems
• A track record of working closely with design, product, content, or marketing partners to turn requirements and brand guidelines into scalable solutions
• The ability to evaluate technical trade-offs, improve existing systems pragmatically, and take ownership from discovery through delivery
• Proficiency in English and strong communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience operating WordPress, PHP, and Apache in a production environment
• Experience with Akamai or another enterprise CDN and edge platform
• Experience with multiple CMS platforms, including headless or hybrid architectures
• Experience evaluating or delivering CMS migrations and platform-modernization initiatives
• Experience using no-code or low-code solutions at enterprise scale, including their governance and operational trade-offs
• Familiarity with AI-assisted content workflows and structured content
• Experience building B2B marketing sites, campaign pages, or reusable landing-page systems
• Understanding of SEO, generative engine optimization, accessibility, and web performance
