Job summary

Stripe is hiring a backend-focused engineer to build and scale its revenue and billing platform. You will design robust APIs, own service reliability, and work across infrastructure and product teams to deliver integrated platform services.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software engineering experience (not including internships)
• Language-agnostic interview process allows any programming language
• Strong collaboration across workstreams to enable team success
• Leadership and mentorship experience with high autonomy
• Interest in generalist roles across varying tech stacks

Responsibilities

• Scope, architect, and lead technical projects to build and scale distributed backend systems and APIs
• Design, build, and maintain reliable, high-performance APIs and backend services
• Own service reliability, including setting performance targets and improvements
• Debug production issues across distributed services and stack levels
• Make tradeoffs balancing business priorities and system performance
• Teach and mentor engineers to grow into Stripe's next generation of leaders
• Partner with engineers and product managers to deliver well-integrated platform services
