Role Overview

This is a unique opportunity to apply your frontend engineering skills to the fast-paced world of cryptocurrency and new trading products, contributing to our technological growth.

As a Senior Frontend Engineer specializing in Crypto and Alternative Trading Products at Questrade, you will be a key contributor to our digital asset and alternatives offerings. You will be responsible for building and maintaining user interfaces for our retail crypto and alternatives trading platforms and internal administrative tools, helping to expand our crypto capabilities and launch new alternative trading products.

What You’ll Do

• Platform Development: Design, develop, and maintain robust, scalable, and secure frontend applications for Questrade's retail crypto and alternatives trading platforms.
• Infrastructure Expansion: Contribute to the expansion of crypto infrastructure across various Questrade products, ensuring seamless integration and high performance.
• New Product Launches: Play a key role in the development and launch of new crypto capabilities for clients and internal teams.
• Growth Portfolio Innovation: Contribute to the build and delivery of other new alternative trading products within the dedicated Growth Portfolio entity.
• Operational Support: Provide support for all crypto trading and transfer solutions, ensuring system stability and reliability.
• API Integration: Integrate with clear, efficient, and secure APIs (including RESTful and WebSocket APIs) to facilitate all aspects of crypto and alternatives transactions.
• Team Collaboration & Mentorship: Collaborate with and mentor junior team members, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and knowledge sharing.
• Efficiency & Automation: Identify opportunities to automate workflows and optimize system performance.
• Problem Solving: Diagnose and troubleshoot complex technical issues, ensuring high availability and optimal performance of crypto and trading systems.
• Collaboration: Work closely with product owners, backend developers, QA engineers, and other stakeholders to translate business requirements into cutting-edge technical solutions.
• Research & Innovation: Stay abreast of the latest trends and technologies in the blockchain and cryptocurrency space.
  
  
  

What You’ll Bring

• Experience: 2-3 years of experience in frontend software development, with a focus on building scalable and resilient user interfaces.
• Technical Proficiency:
• Ability to develop in different frontend web frameworks (e.g., Angular, React Native).
• Experience designing and building highly interactive and responsive web and mobile applications.
• Solid understanding of object-oriented programming (OOP) and SOLID principles.
• Experience with micro frontend architectures is desired.
• Experience with consuming RESTful and WebSocket APIs.
• Experience with state management libraries and patterns.
• Experience with unit and integration testing frameworks and practices (e.g., Jest, Mira, Cypress).
• Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., GCP, Azure, AWS) and containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) is a plus.
• System Design: Experience designing and building scalable frontend systems with a focus on performance, security, and maintainability.
• Problem-Solving Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a keen eye for detail and a proactive approach to issue resolution.
• Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Collaboration: A strong team player who thrives in a collaborative environment and is eager to share knowledge and expertise.
• Initiative: A self-starter with a proactive mindset and a drive to deliver high-quality solutions.
• Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

• Proficiency in Angular and React Native is desired.
• Experience integrating common crypto platform vendors (hot wallets, custodians, execution management service, payment processors) is a plus.
• Experience in the financial services or FinTech industry.
• Familiarity with security best practices in blockchain and financial applications.
• Experience launching new products from 0 to 1.
