Job Summary

The Senior Front End Developer will support analytics and reporting initiatives for a leading Canadian power supplier operating one of the country’s largest electrical grids. This role is responsible for delivering dashboards, reports, and self-serve datasets, primarily using Microsoft Power BI, and working with enterprise data platforms including Databricks and SAP BW / Business Objects.

This position partners closely with solution architects, business stakeholders, and technical teams to design, build, and optimize data visualization and analytics solutions that support operational and strategic decision‑making.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, automate, and manage data visualizations using Power BI and SAP Business Objects.
• Develop dashboards and reports following best practices in data modeling and visualization.
• Collaborate with business and technical partners to analyze information requirements and recommend technical solutions.
• Work with the Solution Architect to define and evolve data storage and transformation architectures.
• Mentor team members in service delivery and issue resolution.
• Manage report generation processes and investigate and resolve failures.

Deliverables

Analytics Solutions

• Deliver enhancements based on priority and direction from the assigned Team Lead.
• Advise, design, and implement Microsoft analytics environments including Power BI Desktop, Premium subscriptions, datasets, and dataflows to support self‑serve users.

Analysis

• Identify gaps between project requirements and available data.
• Assess security requirements.Collect business metadata and provide task estimates.

Requirements Definition

• Prepare design and requirement specification documents.
• Assess feasibility and impacts to the current environment.
• Ensure adherence to analytics and visualization best practices.

Build, Testing & Support

• Build dashboards and reports following established standards.
• Create and document technical metadata definitions.
• Develop and execute unit test plans and provide results.

Required Qualifications

• Post‑secondary education in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience working with Microsoft Power BI.
• 6+ years of experience with SAP BW / BI / Business Objects.
• Strong understanding of enterprise data environments and analytics delivery.

Preferred Certifications & Experience

• Microsoft Power BI Certification.
• SAP BW, SAP BOBJ, or SAP HANA Certification.
• 2+ years’ experience with SAP BW projects, BEX, Process Chains, or BODS.
