Job description

The Senior Financial Analyst, Store Design & Renewal is a highly visible finance partner supporting investment and financial decision‑making across Canadian Tire’s Store Design & Renewal portfolio. Reporting to the AVP, you’ll own key elements of budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting and project financial management, partnering directly with Store Design, Concept Renewal, Fixture Procurement, Point‑of‑purchase (POP) Line Review and In‑store Marketing initiatives. This role partners closely with these teams to ensure accurate financial tracking, disciplined spend management, and transparent reporting across operating budgets.

This is an opportunity to go beyond reporting the numbers. You’ll help leaders understand what’s driving performance, identify risks and opportunities, improve financial visibility, and provide insights that support investments across Canadian Tire’s store network. You will play a critical role in enabling data‑driven decision‑making, financial accountability, and cost optimization across projects and programs.

What you’ll Do
Financial Planning & Budget Management
  • Support annual budgeting for Store Design & Renewal, including operating budget, Marketing Budget Cost Report, and Merch & Owned Brands budgets for in‑store execution, ensuring alignment with business priorities.
  • Support reforecasting activities throughout the year by analyzing actuals, identifying variances, and updating forecasts to reflect changing scope, timing, or spend.
  • Partner with Store Design & Renewal teams to understand demand drivers, phasing, and financial implications of design and renewal initiatives.
Year/Month-End & Financial Controls
  • Manage year/month‑end financial processes, including preparation and validation of accruals, ensuring expenses are recorded accurately and in the correct period.
  • Perform variance analysis between budget, forecast, and actuals; clearly articulate drivers, risks, and opportunities to stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with internal financial controls, policies, and reporting standards.
Spend & Performance Reporting
  • Produce and maintain regular spend reports for leadership, providing clear visibility into YTD spend, forecasted outlook, and remaining budget by program, banner, business owner, and initiative.
  • Develop project‑level financial tracking, monitoring budgets, commitments, invoices, and forecasts for active Store Design & Renewal projects.
  • Prepare marketing budget cost reports, tracking in‑store marketing and POP spend against approved budgets and highlighting potential risks or savings.
Rebates, Recoveries, Accruals & Cost Optimization
  • Track and report on volume rebates related to POP to ensure accurate accrual, recovery, and reconciliation of rebate funds.
  • Identify cost trends, efficiencies, and savings opportunities; support continuous improvement initiatives through financial insight and analysis.
  • Collaborate with Procurement and vendors to validate rebate assumptions and financial outcomes.
Dealer Credits (including Owned Brands)
  • Manage credits to Dealers related to Store Design & Renewal, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and alignment with approved funding agreements.
  • Coordinate with Dealers, Finance, and internal partners to validate credit eligibility, resolve discrepancies, and ensure proper application of credits against invoices or recoveries.
  • Track Dealer credits as part of project and program financials, ensuring visibility within spend reports, forecasts, and month‑end close.
  • Support audits and internal reviews related to Dealer credits, rebates, and recoveries by maintaining clear documentation and financial traceability.
Business Partnership & Decision Support
  • Act as a trusted financial partner to Store Design & Renewal teams, translating financial data into actionable insights.
  • Support business cases, investment requests, and scenario analysis for new initiatives or design programs.
  • Contribute to standardization and automation of financial reporting where possible, improving accuracy and reducing manual effort.
What You’ll Bring
  • 3–6 years of progressive experience in FP&A, financial analysis, business finance or a related role.
  • Strong hands‑on experience with budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis and financial reporting.
  • CPA designation or progress toward CPA is considered an asset.
  • Strong knowledge of Account Principles, financial reporting standards, with practical application required.
  • Demonstrated experience partnering with non‑finance teams and translating financial information into recommendations and insights.
  • Experience managing project/program financials, operating expenses, budgets or cost centres within a complex organization.
  • Advanced Excel skills; experience with financial systems, reporting tools, or PowerBI is an asset.
  • Proactive, analytical thinker with a problem‑solving mindset.
  • Clear communicator with the ability to explain financial concepts to non‑finance partners.
  • Comfortable operating in a fast‑paced environment with competing priorities.
  • Continuous improvement mindset, with interest in process automation and standardization.
