Salary Range: The salary range for this position is $75,910 - $115,380 per year

About Tarion

Since 1976, Tarion has served new home buyers and new homeowners by ensuring that one of their life’s biggest investments is protected. Almost every new home in the province is covered by a new home warranty. This warranty protection is provided by Ontario’s builders and lasts up to seven years. It is backstopped by Tarion. More than 375,000 homes are currently enrolled in the warranty program. Every year about 55,000 new homes are enrolled.

Almost every new home in the province is covered by a new home warranty. Tarion ensures consumer protection by providing free tools, guides and resources to help homeowners understand their builder’s warranty and navigate warranty claims with confidence. If a builder does not meet their warranty commitments, Tarion offers guidance to help homeowners ensure they receive the coverage they’re entitled to, and when necessary, steps in to help resolve warranty claims.

About the Role

The Tarion Finance team is responsible for financial reporting and control, tax and compliance, strategic planning and financial planning & analysis, Treasury and working capital management, and capital budgeting.

The primary purpose of this role is to perform financial analysis and reporting as well as participate in project related work. Areas include financial reporting, budget and forecast, financial projects, system implementation, process improvement, research and analysis on new and emerging issues, and subject matter expert on tax related matters and financial accounting standards.

This position follows a hybrid working policy, requiring two (2) days per week in our office and three (3) days working remotely. In order to assist with onboarding and workplace introductions, new hires will be required to work four (4) days in office per week during their first three (3) months of service. (All remote work must be completed from your home office within the province of Ontario.)

Responsibilities include:
  • Participate in financial projects as required including system testing and data validation to ensure accuracy and functionality.
  • Provide actionable insights and recommendations to support strategic decision-making and business initiatives to facilitate smooth transition to new systems and processes.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to capture detailed business and functional requirements for system and reporting purposes.
  • Prepare and conduct thorough financial analysis (i.e. variance analysis, trend analysis, and financial performance metrics) to identify key insights and drivers impacting the company's financial results.
  • Provide ad‑hoc research and analysis to drive informed decision‑making for senior management.
  • Support the monthly and year‑end financial reporting process.
  • Complete other ad‑hoc job‑related duties as assigned.
A great candidate for this position will have:
  • CPA/CMA designation required
  • 5 years of progressive experience in financial analysis and system reporting
  • Proficiency in sophisticated ERP system such as Workday, SAP, Oracle is an asset
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word is required
  • Ability to balance multiple assignments, both immediate and strategic, at the same time
  • Strong project management skills and understanding of business processes
  • Excellent analytical and strategic thinker with good written and oral communication skills
  • A quick learner with strong problem‑solving skills
  • Proven ability to embrace change and adapt to new technology
  • Ability to provide an innovative perspective to current practices
  • Previous experience Financial Services or Insurance industry experience is an asset
