Job summary

Ontario Power Generation Inc. is seeking a dynamic Financial Analyst to join our team in Oshawa, Ontario. You will support the Senior Manager Financial Forecasts, build financial models, and prepare materials for rate submissions to the Ontario Energy Board (OEB).

You will assist in developing strategic objectives and performance measures across the corporation. The role requires a four-year degree in accounting/finance, 6+ years of experience, and strong Excel/analytical skills.

Qualifications

• Requires a four-year university degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
• Minimum 6 years of relevant working experience
• Actively pursuing, or having completed, an accredited accounting designation (e.g. CPA or equivalent)
• Demonstrated ability to analyze financial results, identify key variances and trends, investigate underlying drivers, and develop appropriate explanations.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and a demonstrated ability to work with financial systems, reporting tools, and large datasets.
• Requires strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet established deadlines.
• Requires excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present financial information clearly and collaborate effectively with stakeholders across the organization.
• Demonstrates initiative and sound professional judgment, with the ability to work independently, resolve financial issues, and identify opportunities for process improvement.

Responsibilities

• Lead the preparation, consolidation, and analysis of monthly financial results, including variance reporting and KPI monitoring.
• Conduct strategic analysis of key financial drivers and business impacts based on month-end close results.
• Prepare and deliver clear, impactful key results packages and presentations.
• Support finance systems, process improvement, and business transformation initiatives, plus ad hoc requests.
• Assist in preparing and presenting to government, agencies, or investment banks as required.
• Develop and apply financial models to support project developments and strategic initiatives.
• Assist in setting strategic financial objectives and performance measures.
• Participate in business unit studies to ensure a corporate financial perspective is included.
