Job Summary:

The Corporate Financial Services department is responsible for meeting financial information requirements of both internal and external customers, including budgeting and planning, reporting, financial analysis and statistics, accounts payables/receivables, and general accounting.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Acts as a business lead partner for all stakeholders in the assigned portfolio ensuring transfer of knowledge, identification of variances/performance issues, while undertaking a root-cause analysis and recommending remedial actions
  • Provides complex, value-added financial analysis and evaluative financial services in a timely and accurate manner, applying financial insight to developing plans, close gaps or identify alternative actions and make recommendations
  • Works as part of the planning and analysis team; flexibility to support other portfolios, special projects and total organizational results
  • Prepares and analyzes budget
  • Develops Monthly/Quarterly and Annual financial variance and performance analysis
  • Ensures accuracy and integrity in general ledgers, labour distribution and financial reporting
  • Assists with and/or prepares quarterly/monthly reporting required for external stakeholders including, LHIN/MOH/Other funders/donors etc.
  • Provides advisory services and recommendations to staff and management on financial policies and procedures, budget assumptions, financial results and projections, service levels

Qualifications include but are not limited to:

  • Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, Major in Accounting, or Bachelor of Science in Accountancy or equivalent
  • Canadian Chartered Professional Accountant designation or equivalent
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in financial analysis and budgeting
  • Experience in Hospital and/or Long-Term Care facility sectors
  • Must have sufficient breadth and depth of understanding of financial concepts, transactions and accounting treatment
  • Experience in reporting the MoHLTC/LHIN
  • Proficient in SmartStream, Prophix and MEDITECH
  • Proficient in Excel, Access, Word and PowerPoint
  • Strong hands-on team player and ability to excel in a fast paced and dynamic environment
  • Excellent critical thinking and analytical skills
  • Excellent interpersonal management skills, with the ability to effectively interact with various levels of staff and divisions of the organization
  • Excellent verbal, written and listening communications skills
  • Ability to distill and articulate complex financial information into clear, concise messages, often for persons in non-financial roles
  • Experience performing strategic financial analysis, audits, preparation of budgets and financial planning
