About the Opportunity

Senior Financial Analyst - Ting Internet, reports directly to the Manager - Ting Accounting, and is a key contributor to the Ting Internet Accounting function. This is a big and exciting role for someone ready for a challenge in a dynamic environment.

You will be involved at various levels with financial accounting and support our external financial reporting team with the preparation of SEC reporting, financial statements and accounting policies for the Ting parent company, Tucows Inc. You will be integral in supporting the month-end close including account reconciliations, capital expenditures and inventory processes. This is a hands-on position requiring a creative problem-solver capable of providing valuable assistance to departmental leadership on special projects and initiatives.

Job Duties
  • Lead the preparation of month-end balance sheet and income statement entries, balance sheet reconciliations and reporting. Work with internal and external partners to obtain information needed and ensure completeness and accuracy.
  • Support the development of the annual budget, quarterly forecasts, and investigate results versus budget and month-over-month variances for the internet business, collaborating with business partners across the organization.
  • Prepare supporting schedules and analyses for monthly analyses, quarterly reviews, annual audits, controls testing, tax provision and filing work.
  • Support external financial reporting requirements, including drafting sections of financial statements and 10K/10Q filings, preparing indirect cash flows and accounting memoranda under US GAAP.
  • Assist with the execution of SOX controls.
  • Collaborate with external and internal auditors to support quarterly reviews and year-end audit deliverables.
  • Conduct ad hoc account analysis as required and communicate key insights to support departmental efficiency and/or key business decisions.
  • Provide detailed analysis and commentary on cost center results compared to budget and forecast.
  • Support the development and implementation of best practices, including scoping and implementing tools to drive end-to-end efficiency and simplification.
  • Support the automation of operational financial reports with IT and other business units.
  • Review existing processes and procedures to develop recommendations for improvement and increased efficiency.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Technically savvy, with the ability to learn new systems (ERP / BI systems) and use system capabilities.
  • A proactive self-starter with outstanding work ethics who can take initiative, balance work, and keep commitments.
  • A phenomenal teammate with strong communication and interpersonal skills able to connect across functions and all levels of the organization, including non-finance personnel and executive level.
  • Comfortable with shifting priorities, handling ambiguity and challenges within a hyper-growth environment.
  • Has and wants to succeed in a fast-paced, performance-driven environment. Maintain the highest standards of accuracy and precision; excellent attention to detail, result-focused, highly-organized and resourceful.
  • Knowledge of US GAAP preferred.
  • Advanced knowledge in the use of Excel, including complex formulas and financial modeling techniques.
  • Experience with auditing or performing SOX controls is an asset.
  • Intacct experience and/or experience with dimension-based G/L would be a plus.
  • Strong reconciliation skills and understanding of accounting concepts.
  • Strong analytical and interpretative skills and ability to effectively convey information to various levels of the organization clearly and concisely.
Qualifications Required
  • Minimum of 3 years of related experience in Audit or Accounting / Financial Reporting, with experience in the telecommunications sector an asset.
  • Relevant professional designation required - CPA or equivalent designation. #LI-Remote

The base salary range for this position is $83,810 to $98,600. Range shown in CAD for Canadian residents. Other countries will differ. Range may vary on a number of factors including, but not limited to: location, experience and qualifications.
