Pan American Silver is seeking a Senior Financial Accountant to join the Timmins Operations on a full-time basis. This remote role reports to the Finance Superintendent and involves budgeting, forecasting, and month-end close for site operations.

You will lead a team of cost accountants, drive efficiency in accounting routines, and ensure accurate financial reporting in line with standards. CPA is preferred and mining experience is a plus.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3–5 years accounting experience, preferably in mining.
• CPA designation or working towards it is an asset.
• Experience supervising a team with strong leadership.
• Strong knowledge of cost accounting and financial reporting.
• Advanced Excel; Oracle ERP experience is a strong asset.

Responsibilities

• Oversee period-end deliverables, cost reports, and site cost reviews.
• Ensure accurate recording of transactions at month/year end and assist in short period close.
• Support journal entries and financial transactions as assigned by Finance Superintendent.
• Assist in annual budgets and quarterly forecasts; consolidate data for departments.
• Collaborate with Accounts Payable and Supply Chain to maintain accruals.
• Ensure compliance with financial reporting standards and internal controls.
• Support audits and mentor accounting staff.

Job description

We are looking to hire a Senior Financial Accountant (Remote) to join our Timmins Operations team on afull-time basis. The schedule for this position is Monday-Friday, 8 hrs/day or 4 on, 3 off, 10hrs/day.

In this role, you will work with the operations team to consolidate the annual budget, accounting process and prepare short-term forecasts. You will be responsible for analysis of actuals to budget and preparation of monthly forecast, reporting of operational or financial key performers and indicators, analysis of project development costs, and supporting management in analyzing operational optimization opportunities.

Reporting to theFinance Superintendent, the Senior Financial Accountant will have the following responsibilities:

• Overseeing period end deliverables, cost reports and cost reviews of site cost accountants
• Ensuring accurate and timely recording of transactions at month end and year end and assisting the accounting department in achieving a short period close
• Providing direct support for the recording and reviewing of journal entries and financial transactions as assigned by the Finance Superintendent
• Assisting in the preparation of annual budgets and periodic forecasts, including collecting, analyzing and consolidating financial data for departments
• Working with Accounts Payable and Supply Chain to maintain accurate accruals
• Ensuring that reports, documentation and filings adhere to financial reporting standards, legislation and internal controls
• Supporting the departments during internal and external audits
• Lead and supervise accountants and mentor/review their entries, and assign/delegate tasks as required
• Driving efficiency/simplification initiatives and continuous improvements to current accounting routines and procedures
• And any other duties as assigned

• Minimum 3-5 years accounting experience, preferably within the mining industry
• CPA designation or working towards a designation will be considered an asset
• Experience supervising a team, and has strong leadership skills
• Demonstrated experience in cost accounting with a well-rounded knowledge of accounting concepts and financial reporting
• Advanced proficiency in Excel, Experience in Oracle ERP considered a strong asset
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Highly organized, detail-oriented, ability to work with minimal supervision and get the job done during tight deadlines
