Humans of HR is partnering with an established organization expanding its accounting team in Vancouver, seeking a Senior Financial Accountant. This hands-on role supports a diverse portfolio of entities and projects within a complex corporate environment.

You will lead month-end and year-end processes, prepare management reporting and schedules, and collaborate with internal stakeholders and external advisors to resolve accounting matters, while assisting with audits and tax filings.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of progressive accounting experience.
• Strong financial accounting and reconciliation experience.
• Exposure to full-cycle accounting.
• Excellent attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.

Responsibilities

• Manage accounting activities across multiple entities and projects
• Prepare monthly financial information and management reporting
• Record, review and reconcile accounting transactions
• Handle accounts payable and full-cycle accounting activities
• Support intercompany and related-party accounting
• Assist with consolidations and ensure balances are reconciled
• Assist with annual audits and provide supporting documentation
• Assist with corporate and partnership tax filing requirements
• Contribute to annual budgeting and financial analysis
• Review financial results and investigate variances
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders and external advisors to resolve accounting matters
• Take on additional accounting and analytical projects as required

This is a hands-on accounting opportunity supporting a diverse portfolio of entities and projects. The role would suit someone who enjoys working across multiple areas of accounting, is comfortable taking ownership of their work, and wants exposure to a complex corporate environment.

The Opportunity

Reporting into the accounting leadership team, you’ll be responsible for the financial accounting activities associated with a group of entities and projects. You’ll work closely with other members of the accounting team and play an important role in maintaining accurate financial information and supporting month-end, year-end and reporting requirements.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Managing accounting activities across multiple entities and projects
• Preparing monthly financial information, management reporting and supporting schedules
• Recording, reviewing and reconciling accounting transactions
• Working through accounts payable and assisting with full-cycle accounting activities where required
• Handling intercompany and related-party accounting
• Supporting consolidations and ensuring balances are properly recorded and reconciled
• Assisting with annual audits, including preparation of supporting documentation and working papers
• Supporting corporate and partnership tax filing requirements
• Contributing to the annual budgeting process and ongoing financial analysis
• Reviewing financial results and investigating variances
• Working with internal stakeholders and external advisors to resolve accounting matters
• Taking on additional accounting and analytical projects as required

What We're Looking For

We're looking for a technically strong accountant who can operate independently while still being a collaborative member of the broader finance team.

Ideally, you'll bring:

• 4+ years of progressive accounting experience
• Strong financial accounting and reconciliation experience
• Exposure to full-cycle accounting
• Excellent attention to detail and a high level of accuracy
• Strong Excel and Microsoft Office skills
• The ability to manage competing priorities and work toward tight deadlines
• A proactive and team-oriented approach
