Job summary

Comox Valley Regional District in Comox, BC is seeking a Survey Crew Chief (Contractor) to lead field survey teams and ensure accuracy on outdoor projects.

You will coordinate with Project Managers, mentor Survey Assistants, and apply Trimble equipment including GPS and Total Stations to deliver reliable outputs. Requires 3–5 years of crew chief experience and a valid driver’s license.

Qualifications

• Diploma or degree in surveying, geomatics or civil engineering, or equivalent experience.
• Strong working knowledge of survey equipment and software such as GPS and Total Stations (Robotic).
• Experience with Trimble equipment and software; laser scanning and line locating is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Manage and perform field survey work with the support of Survey Assistants.
• Coordinate field survey work with Project Managers; review budgets, schedules, priorities, and survey methods.
• Liaise with client field representatives and landowners; prepare field notes, sketches, checklists, and digital data for different audiences.
• Provide guidance, training and mentorship to Survey Assistants.
• Contribute to development and implementation of industry best practices and efficient field processes and new technology.
• Proactively participate in and support the Client safety program.
• Complete office technical survey tasks as required and other duties as assigned.
