Job summary

Contract Scotland is seeking an experienced Senior Estimator to support its growing preconstruction team in Vancouver or Victoria. This employee-owned contractor offers career progression and an ownership stake, with a strong track record of long-term growth.

You will lead estimating and preconstruction activities across diverse ICI and commercial projects, guiding budgets from early estimates through tender submission while mentoring junior staff and collaborating with clients and consultants.

Qualifications

• 7+ years’ experience estimating commercial/ICI construction.
• Experience with hard-bid and design-build procurement.
• Strong ability to manage multiple tenders simultaneously.
• Excellent subcontractor and stakeholder management skills.

• Prepare accurate quantity take-offs and detailed cost estimates.
• Lead competitive hard-bid and design-build tenders.
• Manage subcontractor pricing, scopes and bid evaluations.
• Produce conceptual budgets and preconstruction estimates.
• Identify value engineering opportunities.
• Collaborate with operations, consultants and clients during preconstruction.

An established employee-owned national general contractor is looking to appoint an experienced Senior Estimator to support its growing preconstruction team in Vancouver or Victoria.

The Role

You will lead estimating and preconstruction activities across a diverse portfolio of ICI and commercial construction projects, managing projects from early budgeting through to tender submission.

Responsibilities include:

• Preparing accurate quantity take-offs and detailed cost estimates.
• Leading competitive hard-bid and design-build tenders.
• Managing subcontractor pricing, scopes and bid evaluations.
• Producing conceptual budgets and preconstruction estimates.
• Identifying value engineering opportunities.
• Working closely with operations, consultants and clients throughout preconstruction.
• Mentoring and supporting junior estimating staff.

Project Experience

Experience across one or more of the following sectors is highly desirable:

• Commercial
• Institutional
• Education
• Recreational Facilities
• Retail
• Other ICI developments

Requirements

• 7+ years’ experience estimating commercial / ICI construction projects.
