The Role

We're hiring a Senior Engineering Leader who thrives in code but also thinks strategically. This is a hands-on leadership role—you’ll spend 50–70% of your time designing and writing code in Rust, while also mentoring engineers and shaping our technical direction. You’ll report directly to the CTO and work cross-functionally with product, engineering, and deployment teams to scale our backend platform and real-time data systems.

What You’ll Do

1. Architect, build, and maintain core backend systems in Rust
2. Contribute production-grade code, enforce testing standards, lead code reviews
3. Design data pipelines for real-time ingest and analysis from IP cameras, RF sensors, and edge devices
4. Optimize AI inference stack for low-latency performance (cloud + edge)
5. Mentor a small team and contribute to hiring as we grow
6. Collaborate with product, sales, and deployments to deliver robust customer solutions
7. Own system documentation, technical decisions, and scaling strategies

Must Have Skills

What We’re Looking For:

1. 6+ years of software engineering experience, with a minimum of 3+ years in Rust professionally
2. Deep knowledge of Rust: lifetimes, async/concurrency, traits, memory management
3. Experience building and shipping scalable, production systems
4. Strong systems design and architecture background (distributed/edge computing)
5. Experience with video or sensor data pipelines
6. Linux proficiency and low-level systems comfort

Nice to Have Skills

Nice-to-Haves:

1. Prior leadership or mentorship experience
2. Familiarity with AI/ML inference pipelines
