Job summary

MacLean Engineering & Marketing Co Limited is seeking an Engineering Designer for its Surface Mining Vehicles division in Cambridge or nearby Ontario offices. The role focuses on designing and refining heavy mobile equipment across mechanical, electrical, powertrain, and structural domains.

The successful candidate will join a multidisciplinary design team. Collaboration with production and QA is essential.

Qualifications

• Engineering Diploma or Degree from a recognized post-secondary institution.
• Licensing through OACETT or PEO preferred.
• 5+ years of design/manufacturing experience with heavy mobile equipment in mining, construction, forestry, defence, or similar.
• Proficient with 3D and 2D CAD programs.
• MS Office Software proficiency (Word, Excel, Project, SharePoint).
• Understanding of manufacturing processes such as machining and welding.
• Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing, multilingual a plus.

Responsibilities

• Create and improve heavy mobile equipment across Mechanical, Electrical, Powertrain, and Structural disciplines.
• Select and integrate components to meet form, fit, and function with applicable standards.
• Detail designs into BOMs, fabrication/assembly details, and inspection/testing details.
• Support designs with production teams during builds and update ECNs.
• Coordinate with Manufacturing, Purchasing, and Customer Support.
• Contribute to Quality objectives of the company.
