Senior/Engineering Assistant (Electrical), Facilities Management (2 Yr Contract)

The Engineering Assistant (Electrical) reports to the Engineer and assists in the execution and management of FM services, including operation, maintenance, modification, and replacement of electrical systems and non‑clinical equipment. The incumbent supports audit and monitoring of prescribed KPIs for maintenance services rendered by specialist vendors and outsourced service providers, and implements cyclical improvement projects for both the department and the hospital.

Responsibilities
  • Assist engineer or manager in overseeing preventive & corrective maintenance scheduling & coordination work.
  • Manage maintenance agent or specialist contractor day‑to‑day work for electrical systems such as High Tension Panels, LV Main Switchboard, Emergency Main Switchboards, Transformers, UPS, Generators, and sub‑boards.
  • Oversee performance of outsourced maintenance service providers to ensure good maintenance standards and planned PM schedules are met.
  • Ensure prompt service recovery for any equipment or system breakdowns to minimize disruption to hospital operations.
  • Coordinate improvement projects to upgrade hospital facilities, including renovation, retrofitting, and replacement of system infrastructure.
  • Advise and support the maintenance team in troubleshooting specialized system failures; recommend condemnation and replacement as necessary.
  • Prepare technical specifications, drawings, cost estimates, and work schedules for project execution.
  • Oversee safety practices of the outsourced maintenance team and implement good maintenance standards.
  • Perform any other duties assigned by HOD.
Job Requirements
  • Diploma or Higher Nitec/Nitec in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
  • 1–4 years of experience or ITE graduate with at least 5 years’ Electrical system experience.
  • At least 5–6 years of experience or ITE graduate with at least 8 years’ Electrical system experience for a senior position.
  • Familiar with design, installation, commissioning and maintenance of electrical systems & equipment.
  • Prior experience in management of electrical services and facilities operation, as well as improvement projects.
  • Prior working experience in a healthcare setting is an advantage.
  • Conversant in reading and interpreting architectural and M&E schematic drawings.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and AutoCAD; knowledge of 3D/BIM software is an added advantage.
