Agilus by Synergie in Richmond Hill, Ontario seeks a Senior Engineer, Project Development to drive end-to-end capital projects in the oil & gas sector. The role combines project management with business development leadership, stakeholder engagement, and cross-functional coordination across Pre-FEED, FEED, and design activities.

Ideal candidates hold a Bachelor’s degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering, a P.Eng.

Qualifications

  • Requires a PE license (P.Eng.) with PEO or APEGA; MBA and/or PMP certification is a plus.
  • Strong commercial and business acumen with the ability to evaluate project economics, budgets, and financial performance.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering with 15+ years of progressive experience in project development or pipeline operations.

Responsibilities

  • Lead end-to-end project development, including concept selection, design engineering, feasibility studies, and execution planning for capital projects.
  • Manage multidisciplinary engineering consultants, contractors, and stakeholders to define project scope, schedule, costs, risks, and resource requirements.
  • Drive project governance and ensure alignment with safety, regulatory, operational, financial, and project delivery standards.
  • Develop accurate capital estimates, forecasts, budgets, and long-range investment plans while supporting business case development.
  • Identify and evaluate strategic growth opportunities, system optimization initiatives, and innovative solutions to maximize ROI.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal teams, shippers, regulators, municipalities, vendors, and other key stakeholders.
  • Monitor project performance, oversee risk management and mitigation strategies, and provide regular updates and recommendations to senior leadership.
  • Mentor project teams and champion continuous improvement and organizational change initiatives to enhance project delivery outcomes.

Agilus by Synergie is recruiting for a Senior Engineer, Project Development in the oil & gas industry in Richmond Hill, Ontario. The Sr. Engineer, Project Development is responsible for identifying, developing, and advancing strategic business opportunities and projects that support organizational growth and operational objectives. The role combines project management expertise with business development leadership, stakeholder engagement, commercial strategy, and cross-functional coordination to support Engineering & Integrity on the Pre-FEED (Front End Engineering Development), FEED and design activities on prospective pipeline, system optimization and station automation projects in Eastern Canada.

Successful candidates will have:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering with 15+ years of progressive experience in project development, engineering, or pipeline operations.
  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation with PEO or APEGA; MBA and/or PMP certification considered an asset.
  • Proven expertise in project lifecycle management, including concept development, business case preparation, FEED, execution planning, and capital project delivery.
  • Strong commercial and business acumen with the ability to evaluate project economics, investment opportunities, budgets, and financial performance.
  • Demonstrated leadership, strategic thinking, and decision-making skills, with experience leading cross-functional teams and complex stakeholder environments.
  • Exceptional communication, presentation, negotiation, and influencing skills with the ability to engage executives, regulators, customers, and external partners.
  • Experience in pipeline systems, integrity, tolling, shipper relations, and operational optimization is highly desirable.
  • Collaborative problem solver with a focus on risk management, continuous improvement, innovation, and delivering safe, cost-effective business outcomes.
