Are you passionate about shipbuilding and engineering excellence? Join our dynamic team as a Senior Engineer, Production, where you’ll play a critical role in designing and planning the processes, tools, and equipment that enable safe, efficient, and high-quality ship construction and repair.

As a Senior Engineer, you’ll apply advanced technical knowledge to develop innovative solutions for complex engineering challenges. You’ll also mentor junior team members, review engineering outputs, and collaborate across multiple disciplines to deliver world-class shipbuilding projects.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Engineering (B.Eng.) or equivalent, with a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation
  • 8+ years in ship design, construction, or complex industrial/manufacturing environments (preferably heavy lift engineering).
  • Experience as a cognizant engineer or technical owner for ship systems or shipyard functions.
  • Applied experience with hull/machinery/accommodation piping, electrical outfitting, and/or steel outfitting.
  • Strong understanding of shipbuilding production, planning, material requirements, and facility/resource capacity.
  • Knowledge of naval and modern ship design and construction methods.
  • Expert knowledge of maritime regulatory authorities (LR, TC, IMO) and industry standards (ASME, IEEE, ASTM).
  • Skilled in lifting and product strength calculations using first principles, structural codes, and numerical methods

Due to the nature of work Irving Shipbuilding does, all successful applicants must meet requirements for the Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP), Canadian Government Security clearance, and U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).

Please note this position requires a full-time, in-office presence.

Responsibilities
  • Develop lifting and handling plans, jigs/fixtures/tooling designs, and temporary services engineering plans for programs including AOPS CCGV, River Class Destroyer, and Ship Repair.
  • Provide technical guidance and oversight to junior engineers; review and approve engineering deliverables.
  • Author processes and procedures for recurring engineering support and deliverables.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders such as Production, Planning, Facilities, Platform/Combat Engineering, Scheduling, and Supply Chain.
  • Influence build methods and strategies through technical input.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives within your discipline.
  • Identify and manage risk mitigation plans for engineering activities.
