Job summary

Elk Valley Resources (EVR) in British Columbia seeks a Senior Engineer, Process Maintenance to identify, evaluate, and implement maintenance improvements that raise production efficiency and asset utilization. The role requires collaboration across site teams, strong leadership, and accountability in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• Minimum seven years of related experience.
• Registered, or eligible for registration, with EGBC.
• Previous work experience in heavy industry.
• Strong understanding of bulk material handling systems, fluid/slurry dynamics, rotating equipment, and structural integrity.
• Experience with project management and delivering strong project outcomes.
• Experience with change management and innovation.
• Valid Class 5 Driver's License or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Execute and lead plant improvement projects to boost safety, maintenance efficiency, and availability.
• Oversee maintenance and auditing programs for lifting equipment, structural and civil assets.
• Support maintenance and inspection activities for assets and walkways.
• Provide technical consultation with site departments on risk mitigation and value.
• Contribute to long-term lifecycle planning and refurbishment forecasts.

About the role:

Reporting to the Senior Engineering Supervisor, Processing, the Senior Engineer, Process Maintenance is responsible for identifying, evaluating, and effectively implementing maintenance improvement initiatives which improve production efficiency and asset utilization.

To be successful, we are looking for someone with excellent written and verbal communication skills, who can interact seamlessly with internal group and site teams, with a keen interest in developing leadership, and mentoring others. You must have sound judgement and be able to form practical solutions through collaboration and engineering analysis. This person would have the ability to own this position by taking initiative and staying accountable for delivering strong outcomes in a fast-paced and dynamic environment. Experience with change management as well as proven abilities completing projects are vital.

• Participate in and adhere to health and safety programs and policies
• Execution of plant improvement projects. Identify, design, and execute mechanical and structural engineering projects aimed directly at improving safety, maintenance efficiency, and plant availability.
• Oversee the maintenance and auditing program for lifting equipment, structural and civil assets, and other regulatory assets.
• Support the maintenance and inspection activities for structural and civil assets, lifting equipment, walkways, and pressure vessels
• Provide technical consultation with other site departments with respect to risk mitigation and value
• Participate in the development of long-term equipment lifecycle management and structural/civil refurbishment plans to develop forecasts

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering
• Minimum seven years of related experience
• Registered, or eligible for registration, with Engineers and Geoscientist of British Columbia (EGBC)
• Previous work experience in heavy industry
• Strong understanding of mechanical engineering fundamentals such as Strong understanding of bulk material handling systems (conveyors, feeders, chutes), fluid/slurry dynamics, rotating equipment (large gearboxes, bearings), and structural integrity
• Experience with project management with a successful track record of delivering strong project outcomes
• Experience with change management and innovation
• Valid Class 5 Driver's License or equivalent

Salary range: 115,000 - 145,000 CAD/ year

The actual base salary offered is determined based on the successful candidate's relevant experience, skills, and competencies and considers internal equity.
