JOB OVERVIEW
Laurentis is seeking a results-driven, ambitious, and strategic engineering professional to join our team in the role of Senior Electrical/I&C Design Engineer. LEP’s Operational strategy aims to pursue innovative commercial growth opportunities by providing medical isotopes and radio pharmaceuticals, nuclear sustainability solutions, inspections, engineering services, ageing management, commercial grade dedication assessment, single point vulnerability (SPV) assessments, detritiation decommissioning, refurbishment, nuclear safety analysis and other services to the low carbon energy industry.
The successful candidate will utilize their technical engineering skills and experience for assessing, developing and designing technical solutions in support of LEPs many engineering and design projects. KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Responsible for I&C design development, including drawings, calculations and analyses through various project phase from front end engineering design (FEED), Conceptual, Preliminary, and Detailed or Issued for Construction design phases.
- Develop, review, update, and modify design plans and work schedules.
- Liaise with clients, suppliers and other engineers to ensure projects are completed to specifications.
- Provide technical oversight of suppliers including engineering service providers and equipment suppliers, review and accept supplier-provided technical documentation.
- Communicate with other team members to coordinate workload and resources.
- Author official documents including letters, reports, specifications, and requirements.
- Work independently with minimal supervision and mentor junior engineers and technicians.
- Ability to lead projects internally and externally and be responsible for project performances, including satisfied clients and profitable projects.
- Compliance to and improving existing engineering processes.
- Analyze existing processes and lead improvement initiatives.
- Conduct research, perform diagnostics, and troubleshoot equipment.
EDUCATION
- Minimum Bachelor’s degree in electrical/I&C engineering or related field.
QUALIFICATIONS
Certification & Security Clearance:
- Registered Professional Engineer in Ontario or New Brunswick.
- Able to obtain and maintain a valid security clearance.
EXPERIENCE
- Minimum 7 years of designing custom industrial Instrumentation & Control (I&C) systems (analog and digital), preferably for nuclear power stations.
- Proven expertise in I&C system design using both analog and digital control elements (PLCs, DCS, PID controllers) and field instrumentation.
- Experience preparing system design requirements and technical specifications and be knowledgeable about applicable regulatory documents, codes and standards, particularly nuclear (CSA N-series).
- Skilled in developing loop diagrams, control logic diagrams, control narratives, ladder logic, single-line drawings, detailed wiring diagrams, instrument calibration/setting sheets, data communication and networking diagram, bill of materials, and commissioning specifications.
- Familiarity with ageing management studies for I&C components and performing Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA).
- Proficiency in CAD tools, including SolidWorks.
- Proficiency with Engineering Change Control (ECC) process at nuclear power stations preferred.
- Experience witnessing factory acceptance tests and supporting commissioning activities.
- Industry Background: Previous experience in highly regulated industries such as nuclear, aerospace, or medical, with direct interaction across departments, vendors, clients, and stakeholders.
Project & Proposal Management
- Demonstrated ability to develop proposals for large client contracts and manage multiple internal and external stakeholders effectively.
- Experience with preparing detailed Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) and effort estimates for internal and external projects.

- Strong interpersonal skills with a collaborative, people-oriented approach; adept at building and maintaining productive relationships.
- Ability to establish credibility, earn trust, and influence outcomes; recognized as a confident yet approachable leader.
