Job summary

AtkinsRéalis is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer in Canada to lead the design and execution of electrical systems for complex energy and industrial projects. You will guide electrical discipline activities, coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, and ensure quality from concept through commissioning.

The role emphasizes expertise in AC/DC distribution, equipment controls, and compliance with CSA/IEEE/ANSI codes, along with strong French communication and field experience in engineering,

Qualifications

• Must hold an Electrical Engineering degree.
• Eligible for Professional Engineer with OIQ registration or eligibility.
• Minimum 15 years of experience in power generation or industrial sectors.
• Proficiency with North American electrical codes including CSA, IEEE, and ANSI.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and support preliminary and detailed designs for AC/DC electrical distribution, equipment controls, grounding, and building systems.
• Develop technical specifications for electrical equipment supply and installation.
• Create deliverables: SLDs, distribution panel schematics, control diagrams, layouts, cable routing, grounding plans, lighting/power drawings.
• Provide construction support by reviewing contractor drawings and technical documentation.
• Support startup, testing, and commissioning of electrical systems.
• Act as electrical discipline lead on multidisciplinary projects.

Overview

Join AtkinsRéalis and contribute to the delivery of complex electrical engineering solutions that support critical energy and industrial infrastructure projects. As a Senior Electrical Engineer, you will be part of a multidisciplinary engineering team, leading the design and execution of innovative electrical systems from concept through commissioning while helping clients achieve successful project outcomes.

Your Role

• Prepare and support preliminary and detailed engineering designs for AC and DC electrical distribution systems, mechanical equipment controls, grounding systems, building electrical systems, MV/LV cables, and cable routing.
• Perform technical studies and develop detailed technical specifications for the supply and installation of electrical equipment.
• Prepare engineering deliverables, including single-line diagrams, distribution panel schematics, control diagrams, layouts, cable routing drawings, grounding plans, and lighting and power drawings.
• Provide construction support, including the review and verification of contractor drawings, technical documentation, and equipment submittals.
• Support the startup, testing, and commissioning of electrical equipment and systems.
• Act as the electrical discipline lead on multidisciplinary engineering projects.

About You

• Ability to hold a degree in Electrical Engineering from a recognized institution.
• Ability to be registered as a Professional Engineer with the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ), or be eligible for registration.
• Ability to demonstrate a minimum of 15 years of experience in power generation or industrial sectors.
• Proficiency in North American electrical codes and standards, including CSA, IEEE, and ANSI.
• Ability to communicate effectively in French, both written and spoken.
• Practical field experience supporting engineering, construction, operations, or maintenance activities is an asset.
