Job summary

CIMA+ in Edmonton is seeking a Senior Electrical Buildings Engineer to join our Buildings team. You will contribute to the design and delivery of electrical systems across Alberta, collaborating with engineers, technologists, and other disciplines to deliver high-quality solutions.

This role blends technical design with project coordination and site support, with a hybrid work model including occasional office time in Edmonton and flexible hours.

Qualifications

• Eligible for membership with APEGA – P.Eng. or P.L.Eng.
• Over 8 years' experience in electrical engineering in the buildings sector
• Demonstrate a commitment to client service that is second to none
• Working knowledge of AutoCAD and Revit is required
• Valid Canadian driver’s license with access to transportation for site reviews and inspections
• Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written) in the English language
• Experience mentoring junior technical staff is an asset
• Integrity, team spirit, and a commitment to excellence

Responsibilities

• Design electrical systems for buildings (lighting, power, communications, security, fire alarm)
• Prepare designs and drawings using Revit and AutoCAD
• Perform design calculations and assist with equipment selection
• Coordinate designs with architectural, mechanical, and structural disciplines
• Conduct site visits and field investigations to review existing conditions and support construction activities
• Participate in project meetings with clients and teams
• Support proposal preparation and contribute to project planning activities
• Pursue ongoing professional development through training
• Mentor junior staff and support local team development
• Engage with clients to understand needs and build relationships
• Support growth of Edmonton Buildings practice
