The Senior Director/ Head of Credit Analysis & Adjudication reports directly to the CEO and occasionally to the Board of Directors.
The Senior Director/ Head of Credit Analysis & Adjudication is responsible for managing the retail and commercial lending activities of the Bank as per policies and guidelines and supervise any loan-related legal procedures and asset soundness.
The objective of the Department is to drive asset quality and reduce financial risks of the Bank by providing analytical expertise and providing risk-based expertise on lending activities.
Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities
- Ensure all retail and commercial lending activities including credit approval are in compliance with all sound business practice, credit risks, legislation, regulations, policies and guidelines
- Review and approve residential mortgage loans for which CEO has delegated authority
- Review and recommend credit decisions for CEO, Executive Loan Committee, and Board of Directors for retail and commercial loan cases requiring approval
- Manage and control the retail and commercial lending activities and collection activities of the Bank
- Monitor and control the nature and composition of the Bank's loan portfolio
- Ensure delinquency control systems are in place and perform legal procedures (including litigations) and management of impaired loans
- Supervise and manage the Bank’s operations related to asset soundness to maintain proper loan loss allowances
- Recommend credit risk management planning and procedures
- Recommend changes to the loan policies and guidelines of the Bank
- Provide leadership to the department, ensuring that the team members have the requisite skills, knowledge, and competencies to deliver an effective department function of credit analysis and adjudication
- Foster a cohesive team, focused on customer service, collaboration and promote a positive work environment
- Develop and implement procedures where issues are identified, risk assessed and tracked to remediation with detailed action plans, and timelines for successful resolution
- Comply with or operate in accordance with applicable laws, regulations, and prescribed practices relating to its banking business activities in all jurisdictions in which the Bank operates

Job Requirements
Education Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or other related field required; MBA, is considered an asset
Work Experience Requirements
15+ years of senior experience in credit-related position in the financial service industry, ideally leading an enterprise credit and lending function
- Experience with industry best practices and professional standards in Canada
- Proven ability to implement strategies for effecting change, enterprise thinking, and the ability to effective gain buy-in to large scale enterprise implementation of programs
- Superior interpersonal and leadership skills, oral and written communication and ability to anticipate and guide the impact of legislative/regulatory changes on the Bank
