Job summary

Trinity Western University is seeking a Senior Director of Alumni to lead TWU’s globally connected alumni and families program. Reporting to the Senior Vice President of Advancement, you will shape strategy, inspire engagement, and oversee a high-performing Alumni Team across campus and beyond.

You will build relationships with alumni and university stakeholders, steward donors, and design multi-channel events, giving Day participation, and legacy programs.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree (preferred) in leadership, business administration or related field.
  • 7+ years of management and/or leadership experience within complex organizational structures (university environment preferred).
  • Preferably a graduate of Trinity Western University.
  • Demonstrated experience building strong, trusting relationships to achieve results.
  • Experience leading, coaching, and developing staff to foster operational performance.
  • Successful experience in management, program development and implementation in a complex organizational setting.
  • Thorough knowledge of principles and methods for the operation of a successful alumni program, or similar program
  • Demonstrated experience in human resource management, relationship building, event management, database management, finances, budgeting, building consensus, working in complex environments, public speaking, presenting.
  • Proven record of working in a fast-paced professional business environment preferred.
  • Post-secondary institution work experience is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Provide visionary leadership and oversight to the Alumni Team and other partners and committees to plan and execute the University's purpose and strategy for alumni engagement.
  • Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with University alumni stakeholders and community constituents.
  • Demonstrate creativity, innovation, and entrepreneurial skill in program and community development.
  • Demonstrate financial stewardship of the Alumni budget.
  • Inspire a culture of engagement and operational excellence by coaching and developing staff and providing guidance to alumni volunteers.
  • Develop systems and strategies to identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward prospects and volunteers for fundraising, service and/or engagement.
  • Partner with the Centre for Calling and Professional Development, Admissions, Student Life, Learning Commons, and TWU Schools and Faculties to foster a unified, student-focused approach to career networking and student and alumni support.
  • Develop a strategic and comprehensive Alumni Ambassador strategy that invites alumni to participate and contribute to the university’s mission and vision.
  • Develop and oversee a systematic approach to alumni engagement, involving both in-person and online promotional events and partnerships, that cultivates meaningful relationships, facilitates connection, and builds support for the University and its brand.
  • Develop and implement a multi-generational alumni legacy program to encourage alumni children to attend TWU.
  • Manage a portfolio of alumni donors and prospects. Develop and implement tailored cultivation plans and strategies to identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward the portfolio of donors.
  • Raise funds for select special projects and events, such as Homecoming, as identified with the Senior Vice President of Advancement.
  • Actively participate in the planning and execution of Giving Day as part of the project team and nurture the developing culture of philanthropy among TWU's alumni.

Salary Range: $105,000.00 To $115,000.00 Annually

Position Purpose and Summary

Reporting to the Senior Vice President of Advancement, the Senior Director of Alumni is responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive program that inspires, nurtures, and mobilizes the global community of alumni and families. Demonstrating exceptional communication, technical, and interpersonal skills, with an ability to form meaningful relationships across diverse cultures, the Senior Director of Alumni excels in the task of developing a coordinated, university-wide, alumni and family engagement strategy.

Key Areas of Accountability
