Job summary

Nextria is hiring a Senior DevOps / DevSecOps Engineer to support a customer in a secure, mission-critical environment. The role spans Linux/Windows administration, virtualization, automation, security, and production operations.

You will own reliability, security, deployment, and ongoing operation of critical systems, building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure, with strong emphasis on DevSecOps practices and security remediation.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience in DevOps/DevSecOps or similar role.
• Strong hands-on experience with Linux.
• Strong hands-on experience with Windows Server.
• Experience with virtualized environments and virtual machines.
• Scripting and automation: PowerShell, Bash, Python.
• Experience with CI/CD: GitLab CI/CD, Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps.
• Experience with configuration management/IaC: Ansible, Terraform.
• Experience with monitoring/logging/observability platforms.
• Understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, firewalls, certificates, PKI, IAM, networks.
• Security hardening, vulnerability remediation, patching, secure config management.
• Production or mission-critical systems support.
• Effective communication with technical teams and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Own reliability, security, deployment, and operations of critical systems in a customer environment.
• Build, configure, deploy, and maintain production infrastructure.
• Administer Linux and Windows Server environments.
• Manage virtualized infrastructure and VMs.

Nextria is hiring a Senior DevOps / DevSecOps Engineer to support one of our customers in a secure, mission-critical environment.

This is a hands-on senior technical role for someone comfortable working across Linux and Windows infrastructure, virtualization, databases, automation, security, and production operations.

Location and work requirements

• Regular business hours, Monday to Friday
• Must be a Canadian citizen
• Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a Government of Canada Top Secret security clearance
• Due to the nature of the customer environment, remote work is not available for this position

What you will do

You will work directly within a customer environment and take ownership of the reliability, security, deployment, and ongoing operation of critical systems.

Responsibilities include:

• Build, configure, deploy, and maintain production infrastructure
• Administer and troubleshoot Linux and Windows Server environments
• Manage virtual machines and virtualized infrastructure
• Automate infrastructure provisioning, configuration, deployment, and maintenance
• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines
• Support application deployment, upgrades, patching, backup, recovery, and lifecycle management
• Administer and troubleshoot Oracle Database and Microsoft SQL Server environments
• Implement infrastructure and application monitoring, logging, alerting, and performance management
• Apply DevSecOps and SecOps practices, including vulnerability management, system hardening, access controls, certificate management, patch management, and security remediation
• Troubleshoot complex issues across applications, operating systems, databases, networking, and infrastructure
• Develop scripts and tooling to automate repetitive operational tasks
• Maintain technical documentation, operational procedures, system configurations, and runbooks
• Work directly with customer technical teams, security personnel, developers, and other stakeholders
• Participate in architecture and technical design decisions and help improve the customer's operational practices

What we are looking for

We are looking for an experienced engineer who can operate independently and take ownership of complex production environments.

Required experience:

• 7+ years of experience in DevOps, DevSecOps, systems engineering, infrastructure engineering, or a similar role
• Strong hands-on experience administering Linux
• Strong hands-on experience with Windows Server
• Experience managing virtualized environments and virtual machines
• Experience with Oracle Database and/or Microsoft SQL Server
• Strong scripting and automation skills using technologies such as PowerShell, Bash, and Python
• Experience with CI/CD technologies such as GitLab CI/CD, Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, or equivalent
• Experience with configuration management and Infrastructure as Code tools such as Ansible, Terraform, or equivalent
• Experience with monitoring, logging, and observability platforms
• Solid understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, firewalls, certificates, PKI, identity and access management, and enterprise networking
• Experience with system hardening, vulnerability remediation, patching, security controls, and secure configuration management
• Strong troubleshooting skills across infrastructure, applications, databases, and networks
• Experience supporting production or mission-critical systems
• Ability to communicate effectively with both technical teams and customer stakeholders

Nice to have

Experience in any of the following would be an asset:

• Government, defence, public safety, or other highly regulated environments
• Existing Government of Canada Secret or Top Secret clearance
• Air-gapped, disconnected, or restricted-network environments
• Kubernetes, Docker, Podman, or other container technologies
• VMware or other enterprise virtualization platforms
• Oracle Linux and Oracle technologies
• Active Directory, LDAP, and enterprise identity management
• Security frameworks and controls such as ITSG-33, NIST, CIS Benchmarks, or DISA STIGs
• Backup, disaster recovery, high availability, and business continuity

The person we are looking for

This is not a role where you will only maintain pipelines. We are looking for someone who understands the full operational stack and can diagnose a problem whether it originates in an application, operating system, database, network, virtualization layer, or security configuration.

You should be comfortable working independently, making sound technical decisions, documenting your work, and operating professionally in a secure customer environment.
