Job summary

Design Manager sought to lead design progression and technical elements of design-build projects in Vancouver and Edmonton. You will oversee design development, coordinate across disciplines, and ensure compliance with codes and safety standards.

With 8–10 years of experience, you will manage budgets, schedule design activities, mentor teams, and maintain strong client relationships while adopting innovative technologies to improve efficiency and outcomes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CM/Engineering/Architecture/PM.
• 10 years of design management for commercial/institutional projects.
• Proven leadership and team management.
• Strong knowledge of code compliance and design standards.
• Experience managing design budgets and value engineering.
• Experience with innovative design concepts and technology tools.
• Experience with quantity takeoffs and cost analysis.
• Strong technical writing and report preparation skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage the design process from preliminary design through to construction.
• Provide guidance on design implications and feasibility issues.
• Coordinate all design disciplines and their integration.
• Coordinate utility services into the project design.
• Coordinate building permitting processes.
• Offer value engineering insights and project specifications guidance.
• Ensure standardized design processes across projects.
• Establish design schedules aligned with master project schedules.
• Advise on code compliance and design standards.
• Provide risk assessments and manage design-related commercial risks.
• Collaborate with project team to monitor schedules and budgets.
• Oversee adoption of innovative design technologies.
• Maintain client relationships and refine design processes.
• Oversee comprehensive documentation of the design process.
• Assist project team with design issues during construction.
• Ensure compliance with OHSE standards and safe design practices.
