Job summary

A civil engineering firm in Alberta is seeking a Civil/Geotechnical Engineer to prepare design calculations and documentation for various projects including bridges and retaining walls. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering and experience in design standards including Eurocode. Proficiency in software such as Auto CAD is required.

Qualifications

• Design experience in drainage and soil improvement.
• Familiarity with Eurocode and British standards.
• Strong software skills in Microsoft Office applications.

Job description

Responsibilities

• Preparation of design calculation sheets, design & construction drawings, and any other related documentation.
• Receive approvals from relevant Authorities and/or Employers.
• Prepare concrete design calculations such as bridges, drainage culverts, and retaining walls.
• Prepare steel structural design calculations such as steel bridges, and temporary sheet piles.
• Prepare settlement/consolidation calculations.
• Prepare slope stability calculations.
• Prepare construction planning & management for the works such as reclamation, dredging, soil improvement, soil investigation, ground compaction, piling, steel fabrication, and concrete, etc.

Job Requirements

• Bachelor of Engineering in Civil/Geotechnical Engineering
• Design experience such as piling foundation, drainage, Earth Retaining Stabilizing Structure (ERSS), soil improvement design (PVD, DCM, sand pile, gravel pile), ECM, Gravity wall, FEM, Slope stability.
• Familiar with the latest design standards such as Eurocode, British standards, ACI, ASCE, PIANC, CIRIA etc.
• Well-versed in software e.g. Auto CAD, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Geoslope, PLAXIS etc.
