Job summary

EllisDon is seeking a Senior Design Coordinator, Electrical & ICAT to support pre-construction and design development across sectors. You will coordinate electrical design, review concepts, and work with the project team to ensure bid competitiveness and a seamless construction phase.

The ideal candidate has 2+ years of design experience, a Bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering, and familiarity with Revit, AutoCAD and ETAP.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of design experience or equivalent.
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field required.
• Ability to obtain P.Eng license is an asset.
• Experience with electrical, communications, mechanical and power supply systems is beneficial.

• Assist pre-construction services for various sectors with complex electrical systems.
• Review conceptual electrical design and technology approach to support competitive bids.
• Analyze design against project requirements identified by the client.

Nature and Scope Objective Work closely with EllisDon MEiT Electrical & ICAT Design and Pre-construction team across EllisDon business sectors and various business areas on pursuits and active projects.

As a Senior Design Coordinator, Electrical & ICAT you will:

• Assist in pre-construction services for various sectors where electrical systems are more complex (health care, mission critical, justice and educational)
• Assist in the review and provide input on conceptual electrical design and technology approach on building system solutions in order to provide a complete and competitive bid for design build pursuits
• Analyzing the design against the project requirements identified by the client
• Assist in the review of sub-trades financial submission and evaluate the bid is competitiveness and compliance
• Assist in the preparation of the subtrade scope delineation matrices and other process tools to assure no scope gaps or scope overlap between MEIT during pursuit
• Assist in the preparation of budget target for the electrical/ICAT scope during the pursuit
• Coordinating drawings, narratives and visual presentations for the design presentation meetings and submissions
• Ensure the electrical design solutions are well understood by the Project Team and implemented during construction and operations phase of the project
• Liases directly with the design team, the consultant team, the trade contractors and other members of the project team on a regular basis.
• Support the estimating team during the pursuit and the construction team after the pursuit to establish the temporary power and lighting required during construction (includes developing single line diagrams, preparing load calculations and lighting calculations)
• Liaison with the Utilities (power and communications) for new (construction and permanent) site services
• Experience with various Engineering Applications (Revit, AutoCAD, ETAP…)
• Other Responsibilities Perform additional assignments as directed by superiors Closely monitor and track Astley Gilbert invoicing to ensure costing is correct

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

2+ years or more of design experience or an equivalent combination of technical training and experience. Ability to obtain P.Eng license is an asset. Design experience on utility projects is an asset Must have solid knowledge of the governing Codes and Standards for buildings. Has solid knowledge of high and low voltage systems. Excellent presentation and communication skills required. Strong conceptual skills required for developing innovative design solutions and identifying potential construction conflicts. Working knowledge of design coordination amongst multiple disciplines, including typical standards, practices and procedures. Technical knowledge of Electrical, Communications, Mechanical, Architectural and Power Supply and Distribution System design is an asset. Possesses solid working knowledge of common computer applications (e.g., MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, MS Project, SharePoint etc.). Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.

The salary range for this job is: $85,000- 95,000 CAD
