Your Moneris Career - The Opportunity

As the Senior Data Engineer, you will create data collection, extraction, and transformation frameworks for structured and unstructured data. You will develop data infrastructure systems (e.g. data warehouses, data lakes) including data access points; prepare and manipulate data using Kafka, Talend, MS SQL, Azure Data Factory and other data pipeline tools.


You will also organize data into formats and structures that improve reuse and efficient delivery to businesses and analytics teams and system applications, integrate data across data lake, data warehouse and systems applications to ensure the delivery of information across the enterprise and be accountable for efficient architecture and systems design.


Location: You will be based in our Toronto office, balancing in-office collaboration with remote flexibility.


Reporting Relationship: You will report to the Manager, Data Engineering.


Posting Type: Replacement Position.


Salary Range: The expected base salary range for this role is $106,202 - $148,682.


Total compensation may also include variable or discretionary incentive components, including but not limited to bonuses and commissions. Individual job offers are determined by various factors, including experience, education, skills, certifications, and other business needs.


Your Moneris Career - What you'll do


  • Lead the architecture, design and implementation of complex data architecture and integration solutions including best practices for the full development life cycle, coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations.


  • Build and evolve the data service layer and engage the team to bring together components for an outstanding customer offering. Experienced in assessing overall data architecture and integrations and making ongoing improvements to the solution offering.


  • Engage with partners to establish clear needs and links to solutions, including setting up prototypes, and involving multiple parties in design sessions.


  • Develop Data Pipelines using modern tools.


  • Create efficient load processes including logging and handling of exceptions, notification to support, and overall visibility operations.


  • Perform database monitoring, collaborate with database administrators to optimize database performance.


  • Lead the analyses of database entities, relationships, and attributes to determine efficient design solutions according to needs.


  • Collaborate with company partners to ensure adherence to standards for code, design, documentation, testing and deployment.


  • Collaborate with data governance and strategy to ensure data lineage is well understood and constructed in a way to highlight data reuse and simplicity.


  • Assess new opportunities to simplify the data operation with new tools, technologies, file storage, management, and process. Use team context and experience to evaluate these opportunities and bring them forward to team members for assessment and implementation.



Your Moneris Career - What you bring


  • Bachelor's degree required (master's an asset) in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent work experience in a Technology or business environment.


  • Minimum of 10 years of experience working in developing and following structured work processes in data engineering.


  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in Data Solutions Architecture.


  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in integration solutions development with any pipeline Tools (Informatica, DataStage, SSIS, Talend).


  • Demonstrated proficiency in Snowflake, Talend, WhereScape, Data Vault 2.0, Kafka, Active Batch, Azure DataBricks, Python, SQL.


  • Experience with Cloud platforms services such as Azure, AWS


  • Proficient in multiple programming languages and coding. Excellent ability to design and engineer moderately complex enterprise solutions.


  • Proficient in data management, governance, data design and database architecture. Experience manipulating, processing and extracting value from large, disconnected datasets.


  • Proficient in data modelling, data integrations, data orchestration, and supporting methodologies.


  • Proficient in leading large-scale projects or project steps and communicating progress/approach with technical/non-technical peers/clients and leaders.



Nice-to-have...


  • Knowledge of Business Intelligence, Analytics and Reporting.


  • Build Dashboards and Data Visualizations (PowerBI, Collibra).


  • Experience working with DevOps pipelines (Git, Maven, Gitlab, Jenkins), continuous integration/delivery, automated testing (unit, functional, performance).
