Job Description
As a Data Developer II, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining GEM's data infrastructure and systems, with an emphasis on modern data technologies and cloud platforms. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in building scalable data solutions to enable advanced analytics and data management capabilities. This role also involves promoting best practices in data engineering, fostering a data-centric culture, and mentoring team members.
What does your typical day look like?
- Design, develop, and maintain data pipelines, data warehouses, and data lakes using Snowflake and Azure Data Services.
- Architect data solutions utilizing DBT for transformations and Azure Data Factory for orchestration.
- Collaborate with business and data teams to translate requirements into efficient data models, ensuring compliance with governance and architecture standards.
- Leverage cloud-native data services, including Azure Storage, to optimize data management and scalability.
- Implement automated data quality checks with tools like DBT tests.
- Enforce data governance policies to ensure data quality, consistency, and compliance.
- Maintain data dictionaries, lineage, and metadata management processes.
- Work with stakeholders to define data standards, naming conventions, and classifications.
What skills and training do you need?
- Bachelor's or higher degree in computer engineering, mathematics, data science, or related fields.
- 4-6 years of professional experience in data-related roles.
- Experience with:
- Relational and NoSQL databases (e.g., MS SQL Server, Snowflake, PostgreSQL, MariaDB).
- Azure cloud platforms and data services.
- Data modeling and transformation tools like DBT.
- ETL tools such as Azure Data Factory, Airflow, or Informatica.
- APIs and data integration strategies.
- Certifications in Azure Data Services or Snowflake are advantageous.
- Proficiency in Snowflake, DBT, and Azure Data Factory.
- Strong SQL and data pipeline automation skills.
- Knowledge of data governance, quality management, and security protocols.
- Excellent collaboration, communication, and consensus-building skills.
- Experience designing scalable, secure, and cost-effective cloud data architectures.
