The Data Engineering practice at Gore Mutual Insurance is going through an exciting transformation to modernize technologies and approaches, and to better enable a data driven future for the company.

The Senior Data Engineer is responsible for building and maintaining data pipelines, data modelling and data integrity/validation. The role will also support several exciting ongoing data migration, acquisition, and development projects, aligning with our new strategic data priorities as well as provide mentorship within the Data Engineering team.

Responsibilities
  • Design, development, and documentation of data pipelines and data storage systems
  • Maintenance of Data Systems and Platforms
  • Collect and analyze requirements and develop data processes and applications that satisfy them
  • Identify new opportunities for data acquisition and help with utilization of new data asset
  • Support internal business clients such as Data Scientists and Visualization Specialists with their various data needs in collaboration with other Data Engineering team members
  • Provide mentorship to Associate and Intermediate Dat Engineers as needed
Qualifications
  • An undergraduate degree in a technical field such as Computer Science, Software Engineering, etc.
  • A minimum of 5-10 years of relevant experience as a data engineer is required. This includes experience in data engineering, data system development, or related roles.
  • Proficiency in Python and SQL
  • Excellent understanding of Object Oriented and Functional programming paradigms.
  • Knowledge of data modelling approaches and best practices
  • Experience working with and analyzing structured, semi-structured, and unstructured datasets.
  • Familiarity with the Azure platform; knowledge of core data services such as Data Factory, Event Hubs, Databricks, Data Warehouse, etc
Nice to Have
  • A graduate degree in a technical field with specialization in Analytics, Data Science, or a related subject
  • Experience with large scale data migration projects.
