Job summary

Canadian Internet Registration Authority (CIRA) invites a seasoned software engineer to advance Canada’s cybersecurity infrastructure from our Ottawa-area team. You will design and build XDR and DNS-based products, implement secure coding practices, and mentor peers while collaborating across Cybersecurity, DevOps and infrastructure teams.

You’ll drive CI/CD pipelines, contribute to architecture, and help secure our internet infrastructure for Canadians and global users.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering or related field.
• 7+ years of professional software development experience.
• Proficiency in Java (Spring/Play) or Python and Linux scripting.
• Deep understanding of secure design, threat mitigation, and authZ.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and development of XDR and DNS-based cybersecurity products.
• Translate security requirements into secure, scalable software solutions.
• Apply secure coding practices aligned with OWASP standards.
• Conduct code reviews and mentor junior developers on security quality.
• Collaborate with cybersecurity analysts, DevOps and infra teams.
• Support CI/CD pipelines and automated testing in cloud/hybrid environments.
• Investigate performance, security vulnerabilities, and interoperability issues.
• Participate in architecture discussions and system evolution decisions.
• Create and maintain technical documentation for systems and deployments.
• Contribute to on-call rotation to ensure service uptime.
