Job summary

A leading freight forwarder based in Montreal is seeking a Customs Rater to analyze shipments and ensure compliance with tariffs and regulations. The ideal candidate will have 3-5 years of customs brokerage experience and be bilingual in English and French. This full-time position offers a competitive salary between $65K-$75K and an attractive benefits package including paid time off, an RRSP retirement plan, and an annual bonus.

Qualifications

  • Analyze client shipment invoices to determine tariff, duty, and tax rates.
  • Contact clients or vendors for proper tariff classifications.
  • Respond to inquiries about release, tariff, and compliance.

  • Knowledge of customs release requirements for various modes of transport and goods
  • Excellent communication, organizational and judgement skills
  • Ability to work well under pressure, understand deadlines and multi-tasks
  • Solid computer skills (I.e.: Microsoft word, excel , email, etc.)
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Being a licensed customs broker is a major advantage
