The Opportunity

This position works out of our Ottawa, Ontario location in the Point of Care, Diagnostics division. We’re empowering smarter medical and economic decision making to help transform the way people manage their health at all stages of life. Our Point of Care diagnostic portfolio spans key health and therapeutic areas, including Chemistry, Electrolytes, Hematology, Blood Gases, Coagulation, Endocrinology, Cardiac Markers, Neurology, and Informatics. In this role you will serve as a subject matter expert and project lead for all site-related import and export activities. Ensure full compliance with applicable Local customs regulations and international trade laws, including but not limited to 19 CFR, 15 CFR, FDA, USDA, and other relevant U.S. regulatory agency requirements.

What You’ll Do
  • Maintain compliance with all applicable Corporate and Divisional policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.

  • Serve as a subject matter expert on U.S. import/export regulations, providing guidance and leadership on site and divisional customs and trade compliance initiatives.

  • Respond promptly and accurately to Customs Broker Requests for Information, ensuring timely resolution of inquiries and issues.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (e.g., logistics, purchasing, materials management) to address customs-related matters and deliver targeted compliance training.

  • Support the implementation of corrective actions in response to findings from Corporate Customs & Trade Compliance (C&TC) assessments.

  • Ensure accurate classification, valuation, and origin determination for all imported goods, including non-commercial shipments.

  • Liaise with affiliates and third-party suppliers to ensure proper understanding and execution of U.S. import documentation requirements.

  • Analyze import/export data to identify compliance risks and cost-saving opportunities; provide actionable recommendations to management.

  • Provide analytical support for CBP Requests for Information, Post-Entry Amendments, and Prior Disclosures.

  • Assist with reporting of price adjustments, royalties, and other financial elements through the CBP Reconciliation Prototype Program.

  • Conduct eligibility assessments for goods under Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) to optimize duty savings.

  • Other miscellaneous duties as may be required.

Required Qualifications
  • Minimum of five to six years of experience in import/export operations, international business, or a related field.

  • Bachelor's degree in supply chain, international trade.

  • Licensed Customs Broker or Certified Customs Specialist preferred.

  • Strong analytical skills and a keen attention to detail are essential for success in this role.

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities, along with strong interpersonal skills, are critical for effectively collaborating across teams and with external partners.

  • The ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously and maintain effective time management is also key to thriving in this dynamic and compliance-driven environment.
