Job summary

GagaMuller seeks a Senior Cost Manager / Senior Quantity Surveyor to lead commercial management on major hyperscale data centre projects in Vancouver, BC. You will drive cost planning, procurement, reporting, and governance across the full project lifecycle.

Collaborating with cross‑functional teams, you will provide strategic commercial leadership, manage risk, and deliver accurate cost dashboards and forecasts while upholding client and company standards.

Qualifications

• Degree or equivalent in QS, construction economics, engineering, or CM.

The Opportunity:

GagaMuller is supporting the delivery of major hyperscale data centre developments across Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.

As a Cost Manager / Quantity Surveyor, you will support the commercial management of major construction packages on behalf of the client, ensuring robust cost planning, procurement, cost reporting, forecasting, change management, and financial governance throughout the project lifecycle.

Working closely with Project Managers, Construction Teams, Design Teams, Project Controls, Procurement, contractors, and client stakeholders, you will provide commercial leadership across planning, procurement, construction, commissioning, and handover phases.

This role offers the opportunity to contribute to major mission critical developments while developing expertise within a fast-paced international construction environment.

Responsibilities:

1. Scope & Delivery Management

• Manage the commercial delivery of construction packages throughout the project lifecycle.
• Prepare and maintain project budgets, forecasts, and cost plans.
• Review contractor applications for payment, valuations, and commercial submissions.
• Monitor project costs against approved budgets and identify cost risks and opportunities.
• Support procurement activities including tender preparation, tender evaluation, and contract award recommendations.
• Manage change control processes, variations, and commercial assessments.
• Support final account negotiations and project close-out activities.

2. Stakeholder Coordination

• Work closely with Project Managers, Design Teams, Construction Teams, Procurement, Project Controls, and contractors.
• Attend commercial meetings, project reviews, and client progress meetings.
• Coordinate commercial inputs across multidisciplinary project teams.
• Provide commercial advice and cost reporting to client stakeholders.
• Develop strong working relationships with contractors, consultants, and supply chain partners.

3. Risk & Compliance Management

• Identify and manage commercial risks throughout the project lifecycle.
• Review and assess variations, change events, and contractual implications.
• Support contract administration in accordance with project requirements.
• Monitor contractor commercial performance and contractual compliance.
• Ensure commercial activities comply with project governance procedures and client reporting requirements.

4. Reporting & Documentation

• Prepare monthly cost reports, forecasts, and executive commercial dashboards.
• Maintain cost plans, change registers, risk registers, and procurement trackers.
• Produce earned value analysis, cash flow forecasts, and financial reporting.
• Support preparation of executive reporting and client presentations.
• Maintain accurate commercial documentation throughout the project lifecycle.
• Work collaboratively with Project Controls, Construction, Procurement, BIM, Design, Quality, Safety, and Commissioning teams.
• Support integration between commercial reporting, project schedules, procurement, construction, and commissioning activities.
• Promote commercial best practice across the project.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the Cost Management function.
• Promote a proactive, collaborative, and solutions-focused approach to project delivery.

Qualifications

• Degree qualification in Quantity Surveying, Construction Economics, Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline.
• Strong understanding of cost management, commercial management, and contract administration principles.
• Experience using CostX, Cubit, Excel, Power BI, or equivalent commercial software.
• Excellent communication, organisational, and stakeholder management skills.
• Strong analytical capability with the ability to interpret commercial and financial project data.
