Job summary

Turner & Townsend in Canada is seeking a Senior Cost Consultant with 5-10 years post-graduate experience in cost planning and estimating for education, healthcare, residential, corporate occupier and commercial projects. You'll lead estimating and cost planning activities and present final cost plans.

You will interface with clients and consultants, apply value management and life-cycle costing, and contribute to a growing team.

Qualifications

• 5-10 years’ experience delivering pre-construction and post contract construction cost services.
• Degree in Quantity Surveying or related field.
• Membership of CIQS, RICS or AACE desirable.
• Knowledge of CostX is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Prepare Construction Cost Estimate reports at all design stages for education, healthcare, residential, corporate occupier and commercial projects.
• Manage estimating and cost planning activities, taking ownership of final cost plan/estimate.
• Apply Value Management techniques at project outset and where appropriate.
• Ensure cost analysis, cost checking and valuation work is managed effectively.
• Participate in Value engineering, LEED analysis and Life Cycle costing.
• Lead a cost management team and interface with clients and other consultants.
• Research Canadian construction market conditions across Canada.

Job Description

As an Senior Cost Consultant, you will be involved in:

• Preparing Construction Cost Estimate reports at all stages of design for education, healthcare, residential corporate occupier and commercial projects.
• Managing estimating and cost planning activitiesincluding taking ownership of and presenting the final cost plan/estimate
• Applying Value Management techniques at the outset of a project and where appropriate
• Ensuring that cost analysis, cost checking and valuation work is managed effectively
• Participating in Value engineering, LEED analysis and Life Cycle costing
• Taking a lead role in interfacing with the client and other consultants, at all project stages
• Leading a cost management team, ensuring that it delivers on all of the above accountabilities
  Research related to construction market conditions throughout Canada, including analysis of official published data
• Managing commissions and participating on basic project and financial management responsibilities such as free tracking, invoice preparation etc.

Qualifications

• 5 - 10 years’ experience delivering pre-construction and post contract construction cost services
• A recognized University Degree in Quantity Surveying or related field
• Membership of Relevant Professional Organizations such as the Canadian Institute of Quantity Surveyors (CIQS); The Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS); and/or Association for the Advancement of Cost Engineering (AACE)
• Knowledge of and experience using CostX is an asset

The base salary range for this full-time role is $90,000 - $140,000per year.Ranges are determined by role and level and represent a good faith effort to provide a fair and equitable salary. This range is a reflection of base salary only, not of a total compensation package.Please note Turner & Townsend reserves the right to pay more or less than the posted range, depending on candidate’s experience and qualifications.
