About the Role

Our client, a leader in rail repair, conversion, and modernization for over half a century, is seeking an experienced Senior Contracts Manager to oversee the full lifecycle of large-scale, multi-year rail projects. This newly created position offers the opportunity to make a tangible impact on Canada’s transportation infrastructure by driving excellence in contract negotiation, risk management, and stakeholder collaboration.

Reporting directly to the VP of Business Development & Projects, you will play a key strategic role ensuring contract compliance, mitigating risks, and fostering strong relationships with clients, partners, and internal teams.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the end-to-end management of contracts — drafting, reviewing, negotiating, executing, and closing agreements.
  • Manage bids and responses for RFPs / RFQs in collaboration with internal departments.
  • Identify and mitigate risks, ensuring all contracts meet legal, policy, and industry standards.
  • Maintain a centralized contract repository and track deliverables, milestones, and obligations.
  • Prepare analyses, extension-of-time (EOT) requests, and progress updates for executive leadership.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for all contractual matters with clients and vendors.
  • Support process improvements and ensure alignment across project, finance, and legal teams.
What We’re Looking For
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business or Engineering (Mechanical or Electrical preferred).
  • 7–10 years of experience in contract management or commercial management.
  • Rail industry experience is essential.
  • Proven ability to manage complex, multi-million-dollar projects with autonomy and precision.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and contract management software.
  • Experience in industrial or transportation sectors (rail, aerospace, etc.) is a plus.
