Job summary

Qualus is seeking a Senior Consultant - Transmission Planning to support the Resource Integration Advisory group with a focus on interconnection feasibility studies for generation, storage, demand and transmission projects. The role involves optimizing project size and location and preparing interconnection applications with power flow, dynamic, and short-circuit models.

Qualifications

• BS Degree in Electrical Engineering with emphasis on Electrical Power Systems.
• 5 years of grid planning experience. 3 years in North America.
• 2 years of consulting experience
• MS Degree in Electrical Engineering with emphasis in Electrical Power Systems is preferred.
• Intimate knowledge of the PSSE and/or PSLF power systems analysis tools and their associated models and utilities
• Knowledge of transmission systems in Eastern Interconnection, ERCOT and/or WECC
• Extensive experience with power system studies
• Experience with resource interconnection studies in Eastern Interconnection, ERCOT, or WECC
• Experience with generation delivery assessment in RTO service territories, particularly CAISO, using TARA very highly valued.
• Familiarity with EMT modeling using PSCAD for protection, control interaction, or IBR-focused studies (strongly preferred)
