Job summary

Intact is seeking a Senior Compensation Consultant to join our National Human Resources team and provide strategic compensation guidance. You will lead compensation-related projects, interact with senior management, and develop policies, tools and training materials.

We have two openings: one permanent and one 12-month contract/secondment. The role requires a bachelor’s degree, 8+ years of relevant experience, and strong Excel skills, with bilingualism (English/French) highly valued for

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, human resources, actuarial science or relevant field.
  • 8+ years of relevant experience in analysis or consulting in compensation or HR.
  • Excel proficiency (required).
  • Workday knowledge (asset).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to influence and manage multiple files.

Responsibilities

  • Provide compensation-related advisory and policy guidance aligned with business needs.
  • Identify value-generating opportunities and recommend improvements.
  • Partner with client groups and lead compensation projects at national scope.
  • Develop tools, policies, and training materials for deployment.
  • Conduct total compensation impact analyses with HR, legal, and business units.
  • Stay current on market trends and compensation practices.
  • Lead training sessions and participate in audits and surveys.

Salary Range (but Not Limited To)

About The Role

We are seeking a Senior Compensation Consultant to join our National Human Resources team. In this role, you will act as a resource person, providing strategic advice and support on compensation, and will lead compensation-related projects.

We have 2 positions to fill within the team: one permanent position and one 12-month contract/secondment.

What You’ll Do Here
  • Provide advice on compensation (including compensation-related policies) and propose integrated solutions to complex issues, considering business needs, alignment with the organization’s values, and best practices.
  • Detect value-generating opportunities and proactively identify practices requiring adjustment or improvement.
  • Establish and maintain a partnership relationship with supported groups and actively participate in team meetings and projects for their client group as a compensation expert.
  • Lead or participate in projects and initiatives of corporate or national scope, involving discussions and interactions with senior management.
  • Lead or participate in the review or development of tools, policies and programs, and ensure their deployment, including the creation of communication and training materials and change management.
  • Conduct total compensation impact analyses by working closely with members of the HR community, legal services or other business units.
  • Contribute to skills development within the team and the HR community.
  • Stay current on evolving market trends and compensation practices.
  • Lead training or information sessions.
  • Participate in the administration of the compensation team’s regular operations (annual audits, compensation and employment conditions surveys, etc.).
What You Bring To The Table
  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, human resources, actuarial science or relevant field
  • A minimum of 8 years of relevant experience in analysis and/or in a consulting role in compensation or in human resources
  • In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel (required)
  • Knowledge of Workday (asset)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Critical thinking, business acumen and strong ability to influence
  • Pragmatism, ability to manage multiple files at once, and results orientation
  • Thoroughness and attention to detail
  • Strong complex problem-solving skills
  • Professionalism and a high level of discretion
  • For candidates located in Quebec, bilingualism (English/French) is required considering the necessity to interact on a regular basis with English-speaking clients and colleagues across the country
  • For candidates located in Ontario, bilingualism (English/French) is an asset considering the need to interact on a regular basis with colleagues across the country
  • No Canadian work experience required however must be eligible to work in Canada
