Your Opportunity

The Senior Consultant is a senior professional position within Provincial Medical Affairs, Physician Experience reporting to the Provincial Program Manager, Physician Issues and Concerns. The position provides consultative, advisory and leadership support to Medical Leaders on the development, implementation and management to review, investigate and resolve Issues and Concerns in accordance with the AHS Medical Staff Bylaws (Bylaws), AHS policies and applicable legislation. There are 4 positions available. Please note this posting will be used to fill 4 positions.

Description

The Senior Consultant is responsible for the coordination of Issues and Concern management for complaints involving Medical Staff. This role collaborates with Medical Leaders, AHS Legal Litigation, Employee Relations and Human Resources Business Partnership (HRBP) and other internal and external stakeholders as needed to ensure all aspects of physician issues and concerns management is in compliance with the Medical Staff Bylaws & Rules, AHS policies and applicable legislation. The Senior Consultant assists with determining, developing and advocating for best practice. Promotes policy consistency, compliance with legislation and Bylaws/Rules, and champions change management initiatives. Provides education and support to Medical Leaders with regard to performance management and consensual resolution/restorative practices. As assigned, investigates Issues &/or Concerns that have been raised. As appropriate and/or requested by medical leadership follow through with resolution strategies. This includes drafting correspondence to leading discussions with physicians and Medical Leaders. Coordinates, participates and/or provides administrative support to Part 6 Bylaw matters including case management of investigations. As assigned, participates as an investigator for Part 6 matters. Collaborates with Medical Leaders and HRBP for managing the Bilateral Complaints Resolution Process.

Required Qualifications

A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree, in Human Resources, Social Sciences or Health Administration is required. Masters preferred. The candidate will have 2 to 5 years of progressively responsible experience, ideally in dealing with health care professionals, complaints or administrative law processes. An equivalent combination of experience and education will be considered. The successful candidate should have a demonstrated pattern of professional and personal development.

Additional Required Qualifications

Excellent knowledge and proficiency with MS Office programs. Prosci Change Management Certification.

Preferred Qualifications

Knowledge and experience participating in investigation. Experience working in a hospital, clinical, or multi-specialty group setting. Ability to navigate sensitive conversations with diplomacy and discretion. Skilled in conflict resolution and active listening. Familiarity with credentialing, privileging, and Medical Staff Bylaws & Rules.
