Job summary

Valard Construction, based in Calgary, is seeking a Commercial Manager to lead the commercial and contract management for our transmission projects. You will report to the Director, Commercial and coordinate with estimating, legal, finance, and operations to drive profitability and compliance.

The role requires extensive experience in contract management, negotiations, and financial analysis, with a focus on risk mitigation and change management within large-scale EPC environments.

Qualifications

• Post-Secondary Education in a related field.
• 5 years’ experience in commercial or contract management, preferably in construction.
• Demonstrated expertise with contract law and dispute resolution.
• Strong financial acumen with budgeting, forecasting and cost management.
• Proven negotiation, communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Competence in MS Office, contract management systems and financial analysis tools.

Responsibilities

• Support contract lifecycle from tendering to execution, ensuring compliance.
• Participate in contract reviews and lessons learned.
• Support project management in change management matters.
• Ensure change management protocols are established during execution.
• Draft, review and negotiate contracts with clients, subcontractors and vendors.
• Provide project management support including risk forecasting, scheduling and performance evaluation.
• Conduct financial evaluations of projects including budgets, forecasts and cash flows.
• Maintain strong client and stakeholder relationships.
