Job summary

Manulife/John Hancock in Toronto, Canada, is seeking a Senior Cloud Engineer to design, build, and automate scalable cloud platforms. You will partner with engineering teams to deliver secure, reliable cloud solutions using Azure, AKS, and IaC practices.

You will mentor others, advance cloud adoption, and contribute to a hybrid environment with strong security and DevOps practices. A Bachelor's degree and 8+ years of IT experience are preferred.

Qualifications

  • 8+ years of IT experience in cloud engineering and distributed systems.
  • Experience with public, private, or hybrid cloud environments.
  • Experience delivering enterprise-scale PaaS solutions, particularly using Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS).
  • Expertise in Infrastructure as Code, Desired State Configuration, and cloud platform automation.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and implement cloud-based applications and infrastructure solutions.
  • Build and maintain cloud environments that align with security and operational standards.
  • Automate and orchestrate cloud platforms using modern DevOps and Infrastructure-as-Code practices.
  • Develop and maintain APIs, web services, and integration solutions across enterprise platforms.
  • Support application deployment, troubleshooting, testing, and continuous integration activities.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams in Agile environments to drive rapid delivery and innovation.
  • Research and implement emerging technologies to improve platform performance and engineering efficiency.
  • Lead cloud engineering best practices and mentor team members on cloud adoption and modernization initiatives.
