Job summary

BFL CANADA is seeking a Senior Claims Advisor to join our Toronto or Hamilton office. You will report to the Vice-President – Claims, Central Region and work with lawyers, underwriters and adjusters to analyze claims and determine coverage solutions.

You will provide technical expertise on claims coverage, negotiate payments with insurers, and keep clients updated on claim status. A strong insurance background and 7–10 years of experience are required.

Qualifications

• 7 to 10 years of relevant experience in claims handling.
• Strong insurance background and knowledge of coverages.
• RIBO license preferred; willingness to obtain if not licensed.
• CIP or CRM certification is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Analyze claims and coverage and propose solutions.
• Provide technical guidance on claims coverage to clients and teams.
• Negotiate payments with insurers on behalf of clients.
• Maintain accurate claim documentation in EPIC.
• Generate and distribute claims management reports to management and clients.
• Mentor and support junior claims staff.

We are looking for a Senior Claims Advisor to join our team in our Toronto or Hamilton office!

As a Senior Claims Advisor, you will directly report to the Vice-President – Claims, Central Region and work closely with lawyers, underwriters and adjusters to conduct analysis of claims and coverage and recommend solutions to coverage issues.

Your day as a Senior Claims Advisor

• Conduct analysis of claims and coverage and recommend solutions to coverage issues.
• Provide technical expertise to internal and external clients regarding claims coverage.
• Negotiate payments and reimbursements with the insurers on the client’s behalf.
• Update the client on the status of the claim as required.
• Ensure that the Client Executive is up to date on the current claims status of the account.
• Enter and maintain current and accurate information in EPIC.
• Maintain current and accurate files and documentation for each claim.
• Build and maintain excellent working relationships with adjusters, insurers and related trades and suppliers.
• Identify any client or system issues that may arise to the appropriate individuals.
• Comply with all corporate policies and procedures.
• Develop claims management reports and distribute reports to management and/or clients as required.
• Develop and distribute claim notification reports identifying major losses, trends or frequency for management and/or clients.
• Mentor and support the Claims team with problem files and difficult situations.
• Participate in presentations to clients and prospective clients and/or Associations.
• 7 to 10 years of relevant experience in claims handling.
• Strong insurance background and excellent knowledge of coverages.
• RIBO Licensed preferred; must be willing to get licensed if not already.
• CIP, CRM certification is an asset.
• Customer focused and service oriented.
• Attention to detail and precise.
• Strong analytical, problem solving and communication skills.
• Effective time management and organizational skills.
• Ability to work well independently and as part of a team.
• Good command of the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, …)
• EPIC systems knowledge is an asset.

The expected salary for this role ranges from $90,000 to $128,000. Annual salary will be determined by factors including prior experience, location, business segment, and relevance of the candidate’s skills to the role.
