CIMA+ is seeking a Senior Civil Designer with expert MicroStation and OpenRoads skills to lead municipal infrastructure design from concept to construction, guiding junior staff and delivering high-quality, constructible drawings.

This hybrid role offers two days per week in Mississauga, Downtown Toronto, Bowmanville, or Markham, with projects spanning water, wastewater, and linear infrastructure; AutoCAD and Revit experience are assets.

Qualifications

• Minimum 10 years of progressive experience in civil design for municipal infrastructure.
• Strong experience in water, wastewater, and linear infrastructure.
• Expert-level proficiency in MicroStation and OpenRoads; AutoCAD and Revit are a strong asset.
• Leadership ability to guide design teams and translate concepts into drawings.
• Knowledge of municipal standards and codes.

Responsibilities

• Lead civil design and drafting from concept to construction support.
• Collaborate with engineers and PMs to deliver coordinated designs.
• Prepare and review drawings using MicroStation and InRoads; AutoCAD/Revit as needed.
• Ensure deliverables comply with codes, standards, and specs.
• Provide technical design support through planning, permitting, tendering, construction.
• Review submittals and as-built drawings for design intent.
• Mentor junior designers and foster a high-performing team.

We are seeking a highly experienced and motivatedSenior Civil Designerwith advancedMicroStationand OpenRoads expertise to join our growing team. In this senior role, you will lead and deliver complex civil design and drafting activities for a wide range of municipal infrastructure projects, providing technical guidance and mentorship while ensuring high-quality, constructible design solutions.

This position offers ahybrid work modelwith flexible hours, includingtwo days per weekin ourMississauga, Downtown Toronto, Bowmanville or Markham (note, the CIMA+ Markham office will be open later this summer)office.

Primary Responsibilities

• Lead and manage civil design and drafting efforts for municipal infrastructure projects from concept through detailed design and construction support.
• Collaborate closely with engineers, project managers, and multidisciplinary teams to develop coordinated, efficient, and technically sound design solutions.
• Prepare, review, and oversee detailed civil drawings, site plans, and 3D models usingMicroStation and InRoads, withAutoCAD and Revitas required.
• Ensure all design deliverables comply with applicable codes, standards, municipal guidelines, and project specifications, supporting quality assurance and quality control processes.
• Provide technical design support throughout the full project lifecycle, including planning, permitting, tendering, construction, and close-out phases.
• Review contractor submittals, shop drawings, and as-built drawings to confirm alignment with design intent and project requirements.
• Identify and resolve design issues, constructability challenges, and coordination conflicts in a proactive manner.
• Mentor, coach, and provide technical direction to junior designers and technologists, fostering a collaborative and high-performing team environment.

Qualifications

• Diploma or associate degree inCivil Engineering Technologyor a related discipline.
• Minimum of 10 years of progressive experiencein civil design for municipal infrastructure projects, with strong experience inwater, wastewater, and linear infrastructure.
• Expert-level proficiencyinMicroStation and OpenRoadsis required; experience withAutoCAD and Revitis a strong asset.
• Demonstrated ability to lead design efforts and translate complex engineering concepts into accurate, high-quality, and constructible drawings.
• Strong knowledge of municipal standards, industry codes, and best practices.
• Excellent attention to detail, problem-solving ability, and organizational skills.
• Strong communication skills with proven experience working in multidisciplinary teams and coordinating with internal and external stakeholders.
